Synopsis An In-Depth Look at Information Fusion Rules and the Unification of Fusion Theories by : Florentin Smarandache

This presentation may look like a glossary of the fusion rules and we also introduce new ones presenting their formulas and examples: Conjunctive, Disjunctive, Exclusive Disjunctive, Mixed Conjunctive-Disjunctive rules, Conditional rule, Dempster's, Yager's, Smets' TBM rule, Dubois-Prade's, Dezert-Smarandache classical and hybrid rules, Murphy's average rule, Inagaki-Lefevre-Colot-Vannoorenberghe Unified Combination rules [and, as particular cases: Iganaki's parameterized rule, Weighting Average Operator, minC (M. Daniel), and newly Proportional Conflict Redistribution rules (SmarandacheDezert) among which PCR5 is the most exact way of redistribution of the conflicting mass to non-empty sets following the path of the conjunctive rule], Zhang's Center Combination rule, Convolutive x-Averaging, Consensus Operator (Josang), Cautious Rule (Smets), α-junctions rules (Smets), etc. and three new T-norm & T-conorm rules adjusted from fuzzy and neutrosophic sets to information fusion (TchamovaSmarandache). Introducing the degree of union and degree of inclusion with respect to the cardinal of sets not with the fuzzy set point of view, besides that of intersection, many fusion rules can be improved.

Synopsis Unification of Fusion Theories, Rules, Filters, Image Fusion and Target Tracking Methods (UFT) by : Florentin Smarandache

The author has pledged in various papers, conference or seminar presentations, and scientific grant applications (between 2004-2015) for the unification of fusion theories, combinations of fusion rules, image fusion procedures, filter algorithms, and target tracking methods for more accurate applications to our real world problems - since neither fusion theory nor fusion rule fully satisfy all needed applications. For each particular application, one selects the most appropriate fusion space and fusion model, then the fusion rules, and the algorithms of implementation.

Synopsis Advances and Applications of DSmT for Information Fusion (Collected works), second volume by : Florentin Smarandache

This second volume dedicated to Dezert-Smarandache Theory (DSmT) in Information Fusion brings in new fusion quantitative rules (such as the PCR1-6, where PCR5 for two sources does the most mathematically exact redistribution of conflicting masses to the non-empty sets in the fusion literature), qualitative fusion rules, and the Belief Conditioning Rule (BCR) which is different from the classical conditioning rule used by the fusion community working with the Mathematical Theory of Evidence. Other fusion rules are constructed based on T-norm and T-conorm (hence using fuzzy logic and fuzzy set in information fusion), or more general fusion rules based on N-norm and N-conorm (hence using neutrosophic logic and neutrosophic set in information fusion), and an attempt to unify the fusion rules and fusion theories. The known fusion rules are extended from the power set to the hyper-power set and comparison between rules are made on many examples. One defines the degree of intersection of two sets, degree of union of two sets, and degree of inclusion of two sets which all help in improving the all existing fusion rules as well as the credibility, plausibility, and communality functions. The book chapters are written by Frederic Dambreville, Milan Daniel, Jean Dezert, Pascal Djiknavorian, Dominic Grenier, Xinhan Huang, Pavlina Dimitrova Konstantinova, Xinde Li, Arnaud Martin, Christophe Osswald, Andrew Schumann, Tzvetan Atanasov Semerdjiev, Florentin Smarandache, Albena Tchamova, and Min Wang.

The fourth volume on Advances and Applications of Dezert-Smarandache Theory (DSmT) for information fusion collects theoretical and applied contributions of researchers working in different fields of applications and in mathematics. The contributions (see List of Articles published in this book, at the end of the volume) have been published or presented after disseminating the third volume (2009, http://fs.gallup.unm.edu/DSmT-book3.pdf) ininternational conferences, seminars, workshops and journals.

Synopsis Unification of Evidence Theoretic Fusion Algorithms: A Case Study in Level-2 and Level-3 Fingerprint Features by : Mayank Vatsa

This paper formulates an evidence-theoretic multimodal unification approach using belief functions that takes into account the variability in biometric image characteristics. While processing non-ideal images the variation in the quality of features at different levels of abstraction may cause individual classifiers to generate conflicting genuine-impostor decisions. Existing fusion approaches are non-adaptive and do not always guarantee optimum performance improvements.

Synopsis Synthesis of Information Decision-Support Technologies Under Complex Forms of Ignorance by : Igor Kovalenko

The analysis of multi-criteria techniques showed that at present, methods based on the mechanism of pairwise comparison are widely used. This may be due to the fact that it is easier for experts to compare objects in pairs than, for example, to give them some ordering (ranking). In turn, such methods have a number of disadvantages, for example, a limitation on the number of elements compared in pairs, the need to evaluate all available elements (objects, alternatives), a high level of consistency of expert assessments, etc.
