This early work by Alice Hegan Rice was originally published in 1912. It is a comic novel centred on a southern beauty known as Miss Lady and tells the story of her separation from her wrongly accused suitor, Don Morely, of whom only a mute boy has the knowledge to clear his name of murder. This is a fascinating read from the author of the 1902 bestseller, Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch, and is an excellent example of Rice's work. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
