Synopsis A Pro Wrestling Curriculum by : Tom Prichard

With over 30 years experience in professional wrestling, Dr. Tom Prichard was an integral part of WWE's developmental system beginning in 1996-2004. His first students were Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), Mark Henry and Achim Albrecht (Brakkus). Dr. Tom was the first coach and trainer and after a brief break, returned to WWE and was once again Head coach and trainer for the developmental system from 2007-2012. A Pro Wrestling Curriculum is a one year, daily schedule for students and coaches to follow and learn from. There are lists, suggestions and ideas as well as holds, moves and an overall foundation to build on. This is a teaching manual not meant to describe how each hold is done step by step. Not every hold is meant for everybody! This curriculum was done with the idea a more experienced and knowledgeable coach/trainer was in attendance. There is is not just one way to learn and /or teach anything! Even the basic manuevers in this curriculum can be dangerous and should not be attempted without proper supervision. But if you are just starting or been plying your trade on the independent scene, the lists and suggestions are invaluable. Dr. Tom includes an email he can be reached at if you have any questions about the holds or suggestions in this curriculum. A MUST for anyone looking to get to the next level or just wants an insight to how a developmental system might be run by the big leagues! Some of the stars who trained under Dr. Tom Prichard include The Rock, Mark Henry, Sheamus, Edge, Christian, Dolph Ziggler, Ted DiBiase Jr, Heath Slater, Kofi Kingston, Damien Sandow, Seth Rollins, Xavier Woods, Mason Ryan, Alex Riley, Husky Harris, Bo Rotundo, Mike Mondo, Jinder Mahal, Luke Gallows, Curt Hawkins, Tyler Reks, Zach Ryder, Justin Gabriel, Ryback, Dave Otunga, Leo Kruger, Kris Logan, Alberto Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez, Tyson Kidd, Harry Smith, Rick Victor, Jack Swagger, The Usos, Brodus Clay, James Bronson, Corey Graves, Conor O'Brien, Kenneth Cameron, Hunico, Camacho, Ezekiel Jackson, Wes Brisco, Drew McIntyre, Johnny Curtis, Michael McGillicutty, Yoshi Tatsu, Briley Pierce, Wade Barrett, trent Baretta, Titus O'Neil, Darren Young, Sinn Bohdi, Rob Terry, Orlando Colon, The Bella Twins, Natalya Niedhart, Tamina Snuka, Kaitlyn, Leakee and many more!

Synopsis Convergent Wrestling by : CarrieLynn Reinhard

This book examines how the current era of "convergence" has affected, and is reflected in, the world of professional wrestling, which combines several different genres, including drama, action, comedy, horror, science fiction, and even romance. Professional wrestling’s business practices exist at the intersection of bottom-up fan-centric strategies and strict top-down corporate control. Meanwhile, the wrestlers themselves combine aspects of carnival hucksters, actors/actresses, comedians, superheroes, martial artists, or stuntmen, and the narratives consist of everything from social critique to geopolitical allegories, and from soap opera melodramas to stereotyped exploitation. Bringing together the latest scholarship in the field, Convergent Wrestling analyzes various texts, business practices, and fan activities to explore the commonalities that define professional wrestling and consider how it exists in today’s new media ecology. In addition, the book considers the professional wrestling industry from several different angles, from massive multinational conglomerate World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to local indie federations. As such, it will appeal to scholars with interests in popular culture, media and cultural studies, and fan practices.

Synopsis Minnesota's Golden Age of Wrestling by : George Schire

Why was Minnesota, a land known for its stoic farmers, reasonable politics, and comfortable casseroles, a hotbed of the wacky and wild world of professional wrestling? And how did that old-school wrestling become the Saturday night program of choice for thousands of midwestern families in the last half of the twentieth century? Professional wrestling historian and insider George Schire is here not only to set the record straight but to entice you into a world gone by, a world that comes alive through his colorful and perceptive reporting. As a kid, Schire found a way to escape the troubles of his life by becoming a wrestling fan, glued to the TV set and then later traveling to see every live "card" in the Twin Cities and many more throughout the region. Over the years he has been involved in all aspects of the sport, and he now offers detailed, behind-the-scenes accounts of important matches from 1954 to 1990 and stories of wrestler personalities, both in and out of the ring. He shares his own extensive collection of wrestling memorabilia-- photographs, program covers, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera--to honor the hardworking characters who forged serial storylines onstage week after week and who thrilled fans by carrying out their plots in the ring, with blood, sweat, tears, and high-flying body slams for all. An avid historian, George Schire has been a writer and columnist for national wrestling publications and a ring announcer. He currently cohosts a popular Internet wrestling show, "Old School/New School." He lives in Oakdale, Minnesota. "I thought I knew the sport of professional wrestling. Then I met George Schire! No one is more knowledgeable about the events and personalities that made professional wrestling what it is today." --Greg Gagne, former professional wrestler and titleholder
