Synopsis C Programming For the PC the MAC and the Arduino Microcontroller System by : Peter D Minns
Many systems today use the C programming language as it is available for most computers This book looks at how to produce C programs to execute on a PC or a MAC computer. It also looks at the Arduino UNO micro controller and describes how to write C programs usng the Arduino 'wired' C functions as well as using standard ANSI C with direct access to the micro controller registers of the Ardunio UNO. This can lead to improved efficiency of the programs. Most of the Hardware available in the Arduino micro controller is described, and programs provided showing how to control and use them. There is a chapter on how to create your own programs and also how to change a program created to execute on the Arduino so that it can run on a different micro controller, such as the Microchip PIC. This allows the Arduino to be used as a rapid prototype system. The book also contains many working program examples with additional workshop exercises for the reader to study.

Synopsis Microcontroller Programming and Interfacing TI MSP 430 PART I by : Steven F. Barrett
This book provides a thorough introduction to the Texas Instruments MSP430 microcontroller. The MSP430 is a 16-bit reduced instruction set (RISC) processor that features ultra low power consumption and integrated digital and analog hardware. Variants of the MSP430 microcontroller have been in production since 1993. This provides for a host of MSP430 products including evaluation boards, compilers, and documentation. A thorough introduction to the MSP430 line of microcontrollers, programming techniques, and interface concepts are provided along with considerable tutorial information with many illustrated examples. Each chapter provides laboratory exercises to apply what has been presented in the chapter. The book is intended for an upper level undergraduate course in microcontrollers or mechatronics but may also be used as a reference for capstone design projects. Also, practicing engineers already familiar with another microcontroller, who require a quick tutorial on the microcontroller, will find this book very useful.

Synopsis The Microcontroller Idea Book by : Jan Axelson
A hands-on introduction to microcontroller project design with dozens of example circuits and programs. Presents practical designs for use in data loggers, controllers, and other small-computer applications. Example circuits and programs in the book are based on the popular 8052-BASIC microcontroller, whose on-chip BASIC programming language makes it easy to write, run, and test your programs. With over 100 commands, instructions, and operators, the BASIC-52 interpreter can do much more than other single-chip BASICs. Its abilities include floating-point math, string handling, and special commands for storing programs in EPROM, EEPROM, or battery-backed RAM.

Synopsis Handbook of Networked and Embedded Control Systems by : Dimitrios Hristu-Varsakelis
The vast majority of control systems built today are embedded; that is, they rely on built-in, special-purpose digital computers to close their feedback loops. Embedded systems are common in aircraft, factories, chemical processing plants, and even in cars–a single high-end automobile may contain over eighty different computers. The design of embedded controllers and of the intricate, automated communication networks that support them raises many new questions—practical, as well as theoretical—about network protocols, compatibility of operating systems, and ways to maximize the effectiveness of the embedded hardware. This handbook, the first of its kind, provides engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians, and students a broad, comprehensive source of information and technology to address many questions and aspects of embedded and networked control. Separated into six main sections—Fundamentals, Hardware, Software, Theory, Networking, and Applications—this work unifies into a single reference many scattered articles, websites, and specification sheets. Also included are case studies, experiments, and examples that give a multifaceted view of the subject, encompassing computation and communication considerations.
