Synopsis A Journey Through the Realm of Theoretical Chemistry by : Fereydoon Milani-nejad, PhD
The main goal of this book is to show how human behavior could be explained in terms of chemical laws. Chapter 1, Overview, is devoted to this task; subjects such as chemistry of mutual feelings, connection and its stability, love at first sight, fate and will, uplifting of the soul, dual personality, excited universe, and more are explained qualitatively on terms of chemical laws in this chapter. These concepts show that theoretical chemistry is readily and smoothly applicable to other disciplines, such as sociology, psychology, philosophy, social sciences, and even theology. As an example consider the following paragraph from chapter 3. There is a Beginning and there is an End. There exist an infinite number of pathways between the Beginning and the End. No matter what route one chooses, the End will be the same. Among the infinite number of pathways there is one pathway, called reversible pathway (Heavenly way) with maximum efficiency. There is another pathway for which the efficiency is zero (Hell way). All other pathways are combinations of these two extreme cases. The closer the chosen path is to the ideal path, the more rewarding the journey will be.

Synopsis Chemical Theory Beyond The Born-oppenheimer Paradigm: Nonadiabatic Electronic And Nuclear Dynamics In Chemical Reactions by : Kazuo Takatsuka
This unique volume offers a clear perspective of the relevant methodology relating to the chemical theory of the next generation beyond the Born-Oppenheimer paradigm. It bridges the gap between cutting-edge technology of attosecond laser science and the theory of chemical reactivity. The essence of this book lies in the method of nonadiabatic electron wavepacket dynamic, which will set a new foundation for theoretical chemistry. In light of the great progress of molecular electronic structure theory (quantum chemistry), the authors show a new direction towards nonadiabatic electron dynamics, in which quantum wavepackets have been theoretically and experimentally revealed to bifurcate into pieces due to the strong kinematic interactions between electrons and nuclei. The applications range from nonadiabatic chemical reactions in photochemical dynamics to chemistry in densely quasi-degenerated electronic states that largely fluctuate through their mutual nonadiabatic couplings. The latter is termed as “chemistry without the potential energy surfaces” and thereby virtually no theoretical approach has been made yet.Restarting from such a novel foundation of theoretical chemistry, the authors cast new light even on the traditional chemical notions such as the Pauling resonance theory, proton transfer, singlet biradical reactions, and so on.

Synopsis A Journey into Prayer by : Bill Sweet
Prayer is a constant mental input into our world. Do we pray for what we need or what we want? Do we pray to heal or to hurt? Terrorists pray. Healers pray. Millions pray. Motivations for prayer are investigated by the Spindrift researchers. One discovery was that non goal-directed prayer--"Thy will be done"--produced different test results than goal-directed prayer. A Journey Into Prayer explores the struggles, triumphs, and persecutions of two spiritual healers, Bruce and John Klingbeil, who developed scientific laboratory tests to investigate the effectiveness of prayer. This father and son team added to the centuries old anecdotal evidence the modern day standard of proof demanded by science and medicine. Spindrift translated some spiritual experiences and religious language into the scientific language and experiments of our times. Spindrift isolated positive and negative effects of prayer. Spindrift ignited spiritual dynamite by asking, "What can we know about prayer scientifically?" Author Bill Sweet weaves with a rare sense of humor this Spindrift adventure and the outrage it sparked. ABOUT A JOURNEY INTO PRAYER One of the most predictable consequences of exploring the bridge between science and religion is that the simple act of questioning authority, on either side of that bridge, is guaranteed to evoke furious emotions in those who believe they already know the "truth." Bill Sweet's Journey into Prayer is the story of a father and son who courageously risked everything to explore the power of prayer, an overview of what they discovered, and a poignant reminder of the risks faced by all true pioneers. --Dean Radin, Ph.D., Senior Scientist, Institute of Noetic Sciences, Author of The Conscious Universe and Entangled Minds, interviewed in the movie What the Bleep: Down the Rabbit Hole The name Spindrift is synonymous with what at first seems an oxymoron--the scientific study of prayer. This group's ground-breaking work, which has been part of an enormous shift in consciousness, was brought forth at great personal cost--the apparent suicides of the father-son research team. Bill Sweet's meticulous account reads like a mystery--one that may never be solved. But regardless of the tragedy, the Spindrift research is an important part of the bridge between science and Spirit. May all the good these researchers have done return to them as an enduring blessing of peace. --Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., Author, Seven Paths to God and A Woman's Journey to God cofounder and former Director of the Mind-Body Clinic, Harvard Medical School This book describes the work of some original thinkers, supported by over 20 years of meticulous experimental and analytical research of ingenious design. It bears on the nature of prayer and of healing, and of powers of the human mind little appreciated by most people. Because the philosophical background and the experimental work differs from the mainstream, the research and its important implications for all of us has been largely overlooked. Bill Sweet's homely and disarming writing style presents the material in a personal way that is easily accessible to readers of all backgrounds. Read it, enjoy it, and save your judgment until you have finished and pondered it a while. --Theodore Rockwell, nuclear engineer and Author of The Rickover Effect and Creating The New World

Synopsis A Journey Through The Realm of Numbers by : Menny Aka
This book takes the reader on a journey from familiar high school mathematics to undergraduate algebra and number theory. The journey starts with the basic idea that new number systems arise from solving different equations, leading to (abstract) algebra. Along this journey, the reader will be exposed to important ideas of mathematics, and will learn a little about how mathematics is really done. Starting at an elementary level, the book gradually eases the reader into the complexities of higher mathematics; in particular, the formal structure of mathematical writing (definitions, theorems and proofs) is introduced in simple terms. The book covers a range of topics, from the very foundations (numbers, set theory) to basic abstract algebra (groups, rings, fields), driven throughout by the need to understand concrete equations and problems, such as determining which numbers are sums of squares. Some topics usually reserved for a more advanced audience, such as Eisenstein integers or quadratic reciprocity, are lucidly presented in an accessible way. The book also introduces the reader to open source software for computations, to enhance understanding of the material and nurture basic programming skills. For the more adventurous, a number of Outlooks included in the text offer a glimpse of possible mathematical excursions. This book supports readers in transition from high school to university mathematics, and will also benefit university students keen to explore the beginnings of algebraic number theory. It can be read either on its own or as a supporting text for first courses in algebra or number theory, and can also be used for a topics course on Diophantine equations.

Synopsis Leonardo da Vinci by : Kelly Mass
Hailing from the Italian Renaissance, Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci stands as a multifaceted genius, embodying the essence of a polymath. Renowned for his prowess as a painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, and architect, Leonardo's impact during the High Renaissance reverberates across various disciplines. His journey to prominence commenced with his artistic endeavors, but it's the treasure trove of his notebooks that unveils the breadth of his intellect. Within the pages of these notebooks, Leonardo meticulously documented sketches and notes that traversed the realms of anatomy, astronomy, botany, cartography, painting, and paleontology. This intellectual diversity encapsulated the Renaissance humanist ideal, showcasing Leonardo's ability to seamlessly intertwine artistic expression with scientific exploration. Often compared to Michelangelo, Leonardo's collective works continue to shape the artistic landscape for generations to come. A visionary ahead of his time, Leonardo proposed inventions that were initially dismissed and ridiculed, only to be validated centuries later, attesting to the foresight embedded in his ideas. Born out of wedlock in Vinci, he found himself under the tutelage of the esteemed Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence. Despite commencing his career in the city, Milan beckoned, where he served Ludovico Sforza and garnered a following of imitators and students. Leonardo's professional journey also led him back to Florence and Milan, with a brief stint in Rome, showcasing his versatility and magnetic influence. In response to the summons of Francis I, he spent the final years of his life in France, leaving an indelible mark. His death in 1519 marked the conclusion of a life that continues to captivate attention and admiration.

Synopsis From the Atom to Living Systems by : Marina Paola Banchetti-Robino
From the Atom to Living Systems represents an original historico-epistemological approach to follow the passage, in the microscopic analysis of reality, from the atomic to the molecular to the macromolecular levels and then to the threshold of life itself. Naturally, some parts of this journey have been developed in other works, some highly specialized and others of a more general nature. However, although this journey has often been traced in specialized scientific detail, the philosophical implications of the journey have not been discussed to any satisfactory degree. This scientific journey does have important philosophical consequences that constitute an integral part of this book, which is framed within the perspective of systems science and the so-called sciences of complexity, which are areas fundamental to 21st century science. In fact, the possibility of studying and understanding the material world through levels of complexity opens a great philosophical space that proposes to provide systemic and complex explanations, rather than reductive accounts that pretend to explain all phenomena through the interactions of elementary particles while considering all phenomena implicit and deterministic. The systemic and complex approach implies substituting unique bottom-up explanations, which move exclusively from the microscopically simple to the macroscopically complex, with a series of explanations that are horizontal within planes of complexity, vertically bottom up between various levels of complexity, vertically top-down, as well as circular in a manner that renders all levels of reality and the disciplines that study them as both autonomous and interconnected.

Synopsis Quantum Mechanics by : Giuseppe Pileio
Embarking on a journey into the realm of quantum mechanics can be a daunting task for anyone. Its puzzling mathematics and bewildering predictions often leave individuals feeling confused and disheartened. But what if there was a different approach — one aimed to cultivate an understanding of quantum mechanics from its very foundations? This is the ambition of this book. Rather than treating quantum mechanics as an inception, the author takes a Socratic perspective, tracing the genesis of its key ideas back to the well-established roots of classical mechanics. The works of Lagrange, Hamilton, and Poisson become guiding lights, illuminating the path towards comprehension. Through a colloquial yet pedagogical narrative, the book delves into the elements of classical mechanics, building a solid framework of familiarity that paves the way for comprehending quantum mechanics. Designed as a companion for undergraduates undertaking quantum mechanics modules in physics or chemistry, this book serves as an invaluable support. It equips learners with the essential knowledge necessary to grasp the foundations of quantum mechanics. As such, it proves equally beneficial for MSc and PhD scholars, and post-doctoral researchers. Its colloquial tone captivates the curiosity of any reader eager to delve into the mysteries of this enthralling field.
