Rose Foote was the wife of General Lucius Harwood Foote (1826-1913), the first United States diplomat to Korea, 1883-1885. It tells of her life with the Korean royalty. Shortly after returning to the United States, she died from an illness contracted in Korea. Foote had been a diplomat in Chile earlier.
