Synopsis The Cat Who Went to Paris by : Peter Gethers
NATIONAL BESTSELLER • When the world is your oyster, you need a cat to enjoy it with you. “An entertaining romp that leaves no doubt that Mr. Gethers and his cat have a most remarkable relationship.”—Kiki Olson, The New York Times Book Review At one time in his life, Peter Gethers, publisher, screenwriter, and author, was a confirmed loner and cat hater. All that changed when a Scottish Fold kitten named Norton entered his life. Peter opened his heart to Norton and soon they were inseparable. Together they rode the ferry to Fire Island, traversed the subways of Manhattan, traveled on the Concorde to Paris, dated beautiful women, and even dined in the world’s finest restaurants. Norton knows how to impress simply by being himself—an amusing and intelligent companion who understands silence, enjoys the thrill of the chase, and gladly accepts the devotion of man and womankind. He also teaches his fallible owner how to live, love, and be a compassionate human being. The Cat Who Went to Paris proves that sometimes all it takes is paws and personality to change a life.

Synopsis A Penguin Named Patience by : Suzanne Lewis
Patience is a South African penguin. She is small at roughly 6 pounds and approximately 20 inches tall; but at 24 years old, she is the "penguin in charge" of the penguin exhibit at New Orleans's Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hits, devastating the city and surrounding areas with its catastrophic winds and flooding. The aquarium is severely damaged. With no electricity or relief in sight, the temperature in the aquarium reaches dangerously high degrees, putting the penguins in peril. Patience, and the 18 other penguins, along with some of the other zoo animals, must leave their home and their favorite human, Tom, the penguin keeper. Tom drives his penguins to Baton Rouge where an airplane transfers them to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. Here the penguins will recuperate and live until they can return home to New Orleans. After nine long months away from Tom and their home, the aquarium is finally restored. And Patience, who has been patient, and her penguins return to New Orleans to a cheering homecoming.

Synopsis A Cat Called Dog by : Jem Vanston
Dog is a cat- the only problem is that he doesn't behave like one! Instead he wags his tail, sticks out his tongue and yaps in a manner which is distinctly puppyish. Something has to be done! The pride of cats is at stake - the shame of an entire species a consequence of allowing a feline to behave in such a disgraceful canine manner.

Synopsis The Penguin Book of Victorian Verse by :
Daniel Karlin has selected poetry written and published during the reign of Queen Victoria, (1837-1901). Giving pride of place to Tennyson, Robert Browning, and Christina Rossetti, the volume offers generous selections from other major poets such asArnold, Emily Bronte, Hardy and Hopkins, and makes room for several poem-sequences in their entirety. It is wonderful, too, in its discovery and inclusion of eccentric, dissenting, un-Victorian voices, poets who squarely refuse to 'represent' their period. It also includes the work of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, George Meredith, James Thomson and Augusta Webster.

Synopsis A Cat Called Waverley by : Debi Gliori
Born in a city park, the little cat belongs to no one, until he is befriended and cared for by Donald, a soldier. When Donald is sent away to fight in a far-off war-zone, the cat waits for him to return, at Edinburgh's Waverley Station. And waits ... Travelers and railway staff name him Waverley, and look after him. But he is waiting for Donald. Years go by, until one day at last he hears a voice he knows. Warfare has drastically changed Donald's life, but when the lonely cat and the forgotten man are reunited, their world suddenly seems a brighter and more hopeful place. This is a groundbreaking picture story that introduces important social issues of homelessness, post-traumatic stress disorder, and underlines the value of pets.
