Die 20. ASIM-Fachtagung "Simulation in Produktion und Logistik", Ilmenau, 13.-15. September 2023, steht unter dem Motto der „Nachhaltigkeit in Produktion und Logistik“. Sie soll Anregungen und Denkanstöße geben und über bereits erfolgreiche Projekte und Neuerungen berichten. Der vorliegende Tagungsband präsentiert neben aktuellen Beiträgen aus der klassischen Simulationsforschung und -anwendung, die z.B. den Digitalen Zwilling thematisieren, auch hochinteressante und einschlägige Beiträge zu Fragen der Abbildung energie- und nachhaltigkeitsbezogener Einflussfaktoren in der Simulation.

As a concept, Concurrent Engineering (CE) initiates processes with the goal of improving product quality, production efficiency and overall customer satisfaction. Services are becoming increasingly important to the economy, with more than 60% of the GDP in Japan, the USA, Germany and Russia deriving from service-based activities. The definition of a product has evolved from the manufacturing and supplying of goods only, to providing goods with added value, to eventually promoting a complete service business solution, with support from introduction into service and from operations to decommissioning. This book presents the proceedings of the 20th ISPE International Conference on Concurrent Engineering, held in Melbourne, Australia, in September 2013. The conference had as its theme Product and Service Engineering in a Dynamic World, and the papers explore research results, new concepts and insights covering a number of topics, including service engineering, cloud computing and digital manufacturing, knowledge-based engineering and sustainability in concurrent engineering.

The focus of this book is an application of Digital Twin as a concept and an approach, based on the most accurate view on a physical production system and its digital representation of complex engineering products and systems. It describes a methodology to create and use Digital Twin in a built environment for the improvement and optimization of factory processes such as factory planning, investment planning, bottleneck analysis, and in-house material transport. The book provides a practical response based on achievements of engineering informatics in solving challenges related to the optimization of factory layout and corresponding processes. This book introduces the topic, providing a foundation of knowledge on process planning, before discussing the acquisition of objects in a factory and the methods for object recognition. It presents process simulation techniques, explores challenges in process planning, and concludes by looking at future areas of progression. By providing a holistic, trans-disciplinary perspective, this book will showcase Digital Twin technology as state-of-the-art both in research and practice.

Die Simulation spielt in der Produktentstehung eine stetig wachsende Bedeutung. Aktuelle Technologien wie der Digitale Zwilling und der Digitale Schatten, Augmented und Mixed Reality, Künstliche Intelligenz und synthetische Lernumgebungen, wissensbasierte Konfiguratoren und webbasierte Simulationssysteme sowie die Erweiterung der Verhaltensmodellierung auf alle physikalischen Domänen sind spannende Themen, die auf der ASIM-Fachtagung Simulation in Produktion und Logistik 2021 präsentiert und diskutiert werden. Die ASIM präsentiert die größte europäische Fachtagung zur Simulation in Produktion und Logistik nur alle zwei Jahre. Wissenschaftliche Forschungsbeiträge und interessante Anwendungsberichte aus der Industrie zeigen aktuelle Entwicklungen und zukunftsweisende Trends zu simulationsgestützten Ansätzen zur Optimierung der Markteinführungszeiten, der operativen Exzellenz und der Ressourceneffizienz. Diskutiert werden technische Möglichkeiten und organisatorische Voraussetzungen zur Nutzung digitaler Modelle in der Planung und im Betrieb von manuellen, automatisierten und hybriden Fertigungs- und Logistikprozessen. Der vorliegende Tagungsband umfasst die Beiträge der 19. ASIM Fachtagung „Simulation in Produktion und Logistik“ (SPL 2021), die aufgrund der Corona-Pandemie als digitale Tagung durchgeführt wird. Kernthemen der Konferenz bilden neue und weiterentwickelte Simulationswerkzeuge und deren fortschrittliche Nutzung zur Vorhersage und zur Rückverfolgbarkeit des Verhaltens sowie zur Verbesserung der Leistungsfähigkeit von Maschinen, Anlagen und komplexen Systemen. Zunehmende Schwerpunkte sind die tragende Rolle der Modellierung und Simulation für die Digitalisierung sowie der Einsatz von datenbasierten Methoden, der Künstlichen Intelligenz und des Maschinellen Lernens.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 8th International Heinz Nixdorf Symposium, IHNS 2010, held in Paderborn, Germany, April 21-22, 2010, under the title "Changing Paradigms: Advanced Manufacturing and Sustainable Logistics". The 27 full and two short papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 63 submissions. They are grouped in five parts on Supply Chain Management, Production Logistics and Industrial Engineering, Operations Research Techniques, Humanitarian Logistics, and Simulation. Das Buch ist zunächst einmal eine Informationsbasis für den Produktions- oder Logistikspezialisten im Unternehmen. Doch sollte eigentlich auch jeder angehende Ingenieur ein Exemplar des Buches im Schrank stehen haben, denn längst schon darf man die Simulation mit ihren vielfältigen Einsatzmöglichkeiten zum allgemeingültigen Wissenskanon des Ingenieurs zählen.
