Synopsis Wind: a Flow-Based Programming Language by : Joshua Weinstein

Wind is a flow-based programming language intended for ultra fast performance, and high portability. It's a language meant to be used on embedded systems, or for resource-constrained systems. Wind allows fast, efficient manipulation and processing of dynamically typed data, without using dynamic memory allocation. It supports common collection operations such as mapping, filtering, and reduction. This book details the paradigm of flow-based programming in a new perspective, dealing with optimizing small scale environments for large scale work. The first section of the book covers the fundamentals of flow-based programming relevant to understanding the Wind language. The next section delves into the syntax and type system of Wind. One of the huge advantages of Wind is it uses a compact, byte-sized type system that can write data to files and easily load it again later. This section also covers the commands and flow of source code to optimize programming in Wind. Lastly, the final section covers the implementation of Wind and the techniques used under the hood to ramp up performance and scalability.

Synopsis Advanced Smart Grid Functionalities Based on PowerFactory by : Francisco Gonzalez-Longatt

This book consolidates some of the most promising advanced smart grid functionalities and provides a comprehensive set of guidelines for their implementation/evaluation using DIgSILENT Power Factory. It includes specific aspects of modeling, simulation and analysis, for example wide-area monitoring, visualization and control, dynamic capability rating, real-time load measurement and management, interfaces and co-simulation for modeling and simulation of hybrid systems. It also presents key advanced features of modeling and automation of calculations using PowerFactory, such as the use of domain-specific (DSL) and DIgSILENT Programming (DPL) languages, and utilizes a variety of methodologies including theoretical explanations, practical examples and guidelines. Providing a concise compilation of significant outcomes by experienced users and developers of this program, it is a valuable resource for postgraduate students and engineers working in power-system operation and planning.

Synopsis Fast Solvers for Mesh-Based Computations by : Maciej Paszynski

Fast Solvers for Mesh-Based Computations presents an alternative way of constructing multi-frontal direct solver algorithms for mesh-based computations. It also describes how to design and implement those algorithms. The book's structure follows those of the matrices, starting from tri-diagonal matrices resulting from one-dimensional mesh-based meth

Synopsis Literature 1977, Part 2 by : Siegfried Böhme

Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts, which has appeared in semi-annual volumes since 1969, is de voted to the recording, summarizing and indexing of astronomical publications throughout the world. It is prepared under the auspices of the International Astronomical Union (according to a resolution adopted at the 14th General Assembly in 1970). Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts aims to present a comprehensive documentation of literature in all fields of astronomy and astrophysics. Every effort will be made to ensure that the average time interval between the date of receipt of the original literature and publication of the abstracts will not exceed eight months. This time interval is near to that achieved by monthly abstracting journals, com pared to which our system of accumulating abstracts for about six months offers the advantage of greater convenience for the user. Volume 20 contains literature published in 1977 and received before February 20, 1978; some older literature which was received late and which is not recorded in earlier volumes is also included. We acknowledge with thanks contributions to this volume by Dr. J. BouSka, Prague, who surveyed journals and publications in Czech and supplied us with abstracts in English, and by Prof. P. Brosche, Bonn, who supplied us with literature concerning some border fields of astronomy.
