Synopsis Why Young Earth Creationism Cannot Be True by : Lane Koster
The purpose of this book is to show that there is another perspective on God's Creation that is a much better fit with both the teachings of the Bible, and the observations of science, than the view held by Young Earth Creationists. If you or someone you know has questions about the Bible and the age of the Earth and Universe, this book will answer many of your questions. The Bible makes it clear in Psalm 90 that God views time differently than we do. A thousand years to us is like yesterday to God, or 3 hours last night when we were asleep. Young Earth Creationists hold that the Earth is only 6000 years old, and that the Earth was created in six 24-hour days. This book presents 27 biblical and scientific reasons why this cannot be true. After God created the heavens and a not yet fully formed Earth empty of life, He took six of His days to make the Earth fully formed and full of life. According to Genesis, the heavens and the early Earth could be any age, before Day One begins. Genesis Two tells us that more happened between when God created Adam and when God brought Eve to Adam, than can fit into one day. A study of light shows it is not possible for light to reach us from distant stars and galaxies if the Universe is only 6000 years old. This challenges the Appearance of Age argument. Noah's Flood, 4500 years ago (as Young Earth Creationists claim), cannot possibly explain all the sedimentary rock, fossils, layers of ice, lake sediment layers, the Grand Canyon, and many other features we find on Earth. Then there are the Bristlecone Pine trees that are older than Creation, and grow on mountains that did not exist until after Noah's Flood. This book examines these claims, and many others, that contradict the Bible as well as other observations made here on Earth. We do well to examine these claims, so that we can be more effective in sharing the Christian Gospel with people around us.

Synopsis Old-Earth Creationism on Trail by : Tim Chaffey
"Twenty-somethings once faithfully attended church. What made them stop? While most said they still believe that the Bible is God's Word, they also said that the idea that the earth is millions of years old was one thing that caused them to doubt the bible? The crumbling foundation of the church takes a devastating toll on future generations. Therefore, churches must reclaim the historical truth found in Genesis and apply the Bible's authority to every area of life." -Ken Ham, President Answers in Genesis As the modern Church struggles to find a place of relevancy for a new generation that already has massive demands on its time and attention, more and more young people raised in the Church are leaving it - failing to find the answers to their questions of faith and life, beset with doubts raised by issues that the Church chooses not to address. Opting to skirt the controversy of Genesis as literal history, the biblical authority of the Holy Word is called into question and reduced to a collection of mere stories. More popularly considered an issue for schools or in the public realm, the conflicting views on the age of the earth also remain a pivotal issue within the Church - as it has for over two centuries. Was the Creation week literally six days? Does science really point to an old earth? Does the issue really matter for Christians? Should this issue even be discussed within the Church? Join authors Dr. Jason Lisle and Tim Chaffey as they put forth a case against an old-earth interpretation of Scripture. A comprehensive biblical, theological, and scientific critique of old-earth creationism, the book presents its compelling testimony in layman's terms to create a powerful debate that leads to unquestionable truth.

Synopsis A Fortunate Universe by : Geraint F. Lewis
Over the last forty years, scientists have uncovered evidence that if the Universe had been forged with even slightly different properties, life as we know it - and life as we can imagine it - would be impossible. Join us on a journey through how we understand the Universe, from its most basic particles and forces, to planets, stars and galaxies, and back through cosmic history to the birth of the cosmos. Conflicting notions about our place in the Universe are defined, defended and critiqued from scientific, philosophical and religious viewpoints. The authors' engaging and witty style addresses what fine-tuning might mean for the future of physics and the search for the ultimate laws of nature. Tackling difficult questions and providing thought-provoking answers, this volumes challenges us to consider our place in the cosmos, regardless of our initial convictions.

Synopsis Four Views on Creation, Evolution, and Intelligent Design by : Zondervan,
Evolution--or the broader topic of origins--has enormous relevance to how we understand the Christian faith and how we interpret Scripture. Four Views on Creation, Evolution, and Intelligent Design presents the current "state of the conversation" about origins among evangelicals representing four key positions: Young Earth Creationism - Ken Ham (Answers in Genesis) Old Earth (Progressive) Creationism - Hugh Ross (Reasons to Believe) Evolutionary Creation - Deborah B. Haarsma (BioLogos) Intelligent Design - Stephen C. Meyer (The Discovery Institute) The contributors offer their best defense of their position addressing questions such as: What is your position on origins - understood broadly to include the physical universe, life, and human beings in particular? What do you take to be the most persuasive arguments in defense of your position? How do you demarcate and correlate evidence about origins from current science and from divine revelation? What hinges on answering these questions correctly? This book allows each contributor to not only present the case for his or her view, but also to critique and respond to the critiques of the other contributors, allowing you to compare their beliefs in an open forum setting to see where they overlap and where they differ.

Synopsis A Case for Young-Earth Creationism by : Paul Nelson
Derived from Three Views on Creation and Evolution, this digital short provides a vivid defense for the view that God created the world relatively recently and in six days. Critical of current scientific consensuses, though not abrasively so, the authors present biblical, philosophical, and scientific supports for their perspective. Their clear argumentation makes this one of the best presentations of a historic if recently maligned viewpoint, one that will be useful to proponents and opponents alike.

Synopsis Perspectives on an Evolving Creation by : Keith B. Miller
According to the authors of this book, who explore evolutionary theory from a clear Christian perspective, the common view of conflict between evolutionary theory and Christian faith is mistaken. Written by contributors representing the natural sciences, philosophy, theology, and the history of science, this thought-provoking work is informed by both solid scientific knowledge and keen theological insight. The three sections of the book address (1) relevant biblical, historical, and scientific background, (2) the scientific evidence for an evolving creation, and (3) theological issues commonly raised in connection with evolution, including the nature of God's creative activity, the meaning of the miraculous, and the uniqueness of humankind. Woven through the volume are short meditations designed to direct readers toward worshiping the God of providence. Contributors: Laurie J. Braaten Warren S.
