Synopsis Whistle Pig by : Tony Hartman
Whistle Pig is a children's book for people who used to be children. Within these pages you'll find a treasury of thought-provoking and hilarious poetry, illustrations, and (masculine) fairy tales written by Tony Hartman and Chris Fafalios. These two (straight) buddies have figured out the formula for comedic cartoon poetry while spending Saturday afternoons drawing, writing, and laughing. The result is a magical journey through the whistle pig ranch of the mind. Enjoy this lesson in cartoon poetry science. Oh, and there's probably some fables in here as well..

Synopsis The Awakening of Adam by : Ron L. Kuntz
I shall tell you a story—it is the tale of a journey. Gather round, young and old, for the moving and amusing tale of Adam, a most curious and unique little whistle-pig. Adam is different from the rest of his group from birth. Those in the Whistle-pig Clan do not think deep thoughts. They do not laugh. They cannot even smile! But Adam does these things. Adam plays when the others do not. He explores where the others do not. He protects when others will not. And for all his differences, he is shunned from the group and finds a home, alone, a short distance away from where he grew up. Adam is mostly pleased with his solitary life, but he can't help longing for someone to share his thoughts with. A prisoner in his own mind, he sometimes finds it easy to make a bad choice. But, as he is different than any other whistle-pig, he begins to feel emotions that whistle-pigs and others in the animal kingdom do not feel. These emotions leave him conflicted, until the arrival of Agnus, a strangely kind two leg. A story of redemption and hope, The Awakening of Adam is an allegorical treasure that will inspire your heart and touch your spirit.

Synopsis Postcards from Stella Maris by : Susan M. Boyer
Postcards From Stella Maris is a collection of five short stories for fans of the series who might be interested, for example, in Colleen’s backstory. I wrote the short story “Common Knowledge” for myself years ago, as a way to explore what happened to Colleen. As you might imagine, it’s not as light as the series in general. This story has never been published anywhere before. “Eviction” is the story of how Liz first met Rhett, her golden retriever, back when she was married to Scott the Scoundrel. This story is also not lighthearted, and it likewise has never been published before. “Hogwash” originally appeared in Spinetingler Magazine. This is a fun little case which introduces the character of Zeke Lyerly, who appears in Lowcountry Bonfire. “Highlights and Hot Lead” originally appeared in The Petigru Review. This is a Stella Maris slice of life story featuring Shannelle Johnson, a local judge’s wife, and it takes place entirely at Phoebe’s Day Spa. “Everything is Relative” is a peek inside a Talbot family Thanksgiving. A few of Mamma’s recipes are included at the end. If by chance you’ve stumbled on this collection of stories, but you’ve never read a Liz Talbot mystery, I would encourage you to start with Lowcountry Boil (A Liz Talbot Mystery, Book 1) and come back to these stories later. I so hope you enjoy these glimpses into Liz Talbot’s formative years, her unfortunate first marriage, and her life between major cases. Warmly, Susan M. Boyer

Synopsis Whiskey Business by : Tom Acitelli
Discover the underdog story of the improbable rise of small-batch distilling in America. This bracingly written, fast-paced work traces the relationship of Americans to spirits such as bourbon, scotch, vodka, gin, and rum. And it presents the full story of a plucky band of entrepreneurs who disrupted the nation's conception of how those libations could appear and taste—and how much they could cost. Acitelli weaves the unlikely triumph of the small-batch distilling movement into other major trends, including a neo-Prohibitionism that nearly croaked the entire thing, America's re-embrace of cocktails, and the twin rises of craft beer and fine wine. He also expertly delves into the controversies currently wracking American spirits, ones that threaten to tank the movement at the moment of what should be its greatest triumph.
