Colonel Tyler's affability, sympathy, animation, originality, knowledge of human life and nature, united to an ever-present benevolence, caused his society to be sought and delightfully esteemed; his home was the constant scene of cordial hospitalities. He had great capacity for achievement, both in range and degree. Comfort's remains were removed to Syracuse by a grandson, many years after his death, and rest in a tomb in the chief cemetery of the city. He is supposed to have gone to Onondaga County, N. Y., and some of the family think he died in Montezuma, N. Y. It is believed that his children were all born in Onondaga County, N. Y. He lived on his father's place one mile from Westford Village (Ashford), Conn. He went to New York state with his brothers, but returned to Ashford, where he is buried.
