Synopsis The Truth Bird 4 by : David Velde

It's weeks away from the 2018 midterm elections, Sam, Justin, Jenny, and I were campaigning hard for the Democrats running in senate and house races. The Truth Bird went on a cross-country tour visiting college campuses in every state lecturing on the dangers of propaganda, and the decline of America's long- standing voice for human rights. Under immense pressure from the White House, the justice department issued a federal warrant for the Truth Bird's arrest. After a few narrow misses by federal agents, his luck finally ran out as he was arrested, leaving the set at CNN studios. He was booked and charged at the Federal Bureau of Investigations headquarters for felony feces disbursement and transferred to the Virginia jail where he would await trial. The Truth Bird had a rough start after meeting his cellie Paul Manafort, who was also awaiting trial on a list of federal crimes ranging from money laundering to violating campaign-financing laws. The Truth Bird's arch nemeses, Rudy Giuliani and the president, were excited they had the bird cornered and wasted no time putting a price on his head. The Truth Bird was denied bail and was instructed by his counsel that it was not likely he would be acquitted, so Giorgio, not having any of that, plots the vigilante bird's escape. The aliens implement a brazen jailbreak freeing the legendary bird and welcome him home to a grand reception at the Star Castle, honoring him for timeless service. Due to the stressful campaign season, Giorgio insists we all go on a retreat to one of the newly developed planets named Martika in order to rest before the final push into the midterm elections. After a weeklong rest and spiritual rejuvenation, we head back to earth to campaign for the remaining days of the most important election in United States history.

Synopsis Yellow Bird by : Sierra Crane Murdoch

PULITZER PRIZE FINALIST • The gripping true story of a murder on an Indian reservation, and the unforgettable Arikara woman who becomes obsessed with solving it—an urgent work of literary journalism. “I don’t know a more complicated, original protagonist in literature than Lissa Yellow Bird, or a more dogged reporter in American journalism than Sierra Crane Murdoch.”—William Finnegan, Pulitzer Prize–winning author of Barbarian Days In development as a Paramount+ original series WINNER OF THE OREGON BOOK AWARD • NOMINATED FOR THE EDGAR® AWARD • NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The New York Times Book Review • NPR • Publishers Weekly When Lissa Yellow Bird was released from prison in 2009, she found her home, the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota, transformed by the Bakken oil boom. In her absence, the landscape had been altered beyond recognition, her tribal government swayed by corporate interests, and her community burdened by a surge in violence and addiction. Three years later, when Lissa learned that a young white oil worker, Kristopher “KC” Clarke, had disappeared from his reservation worksite, she became particularly concerned. No one knew where Clarke had gone, and few people were actively looking for him. Yellow Bird traces Lissa’s steps as she obsessively hunts for clues to Clarke’s disappearance. She navigates two worlds—that of her own tribe, changed by its newfound wealth, and that of the non-Native oilmen, down on their luck, who have come to find work on the heels of the economic recession. Her pursuit of Clarke is also a pursuit of redemption, as Lissa atones for her own crimes and reckons with generations of trauma. Yellow Bird is an exquisitely written, masterfully reported story about a search for justice and a remarkable portrait of a complex woman who is smart, funny, eloquent, compassionate, and—when it serves her cause—manipulative. Drawing on eight years of immersive investigation, Sierra Crane Murdoch has produced a profound examination of the legacy of systematic violence inflicted on a tribal nation and a tale of extraordinary healing.

Synopsis Time and the World by : M. Oreste Fiocco

This is a book about everything. Literally. It is also a book about how anything whatsoever happens. By answering the question what is a thing?, philosopher M. Oreste Fiocco reveals what it is to exist, what a being, any being at all, is. In this way, he illuminates reality as a whole and what it is to be real. Such profound matters require a special method of inquiry, which Fiocco introduces and elaborates. Any assumption about the world or anything in it might distort the correct answer to a question as general as what it is to exist. Thus, the method employed herein -- original inquiry -- begins with no assumptions about reality. It is, then, a method independent of any figure, trend, or tradition in the history of philosophy. Via this method, one simply confronts all this, the world, an all-encompassing diverse array of whatnot, and on this basis can come to a secure account of what it is to be. In simply confronting the world, however, one's experience shifts, is transient: all this goes from one way--with, say, a cat here--to some other way--the cat being over there. This manifest inconstancy must be accounted for in any comprehensive account of the world. Yet so must a manifest constancy. If the cat is now, at this moment, over there, that the cat is now, at this moment, over there is forever true. These seemingly contradictory phenomena, inconstancy and constancy, demonstrate the importance of time to understanding the world. Since any legitimate inquiry is directed at something or other and since many objects of inquiry (including inquiry itself) occur over time, correct accounts of temporal reality and of being - of time and the world - provide insight into all inquiry. These accounts provide constraints on and, hence, guidelines for investigating any subject matter in any field. Therefore, this is a book for anyone curious about such grand, abstruse matters as the nature of reality or of time itself, as well as a book for someone curious about any thing at all.
