Synopsis The Samaritan’s Friend by : James Campbell Hunter
In this imaginative retelling of the Gospel story, an unnamed disciple connects with Jesus at a wedding in Cana in Galilee. Jesus's loving charisma and something deep inside the disciple calls him to join the small band of followers and then witness over and over Jesus's radical, inclusive love. This profound grace brings new life to many and infuriates others. After seeing Jesus's death by crucifixion, the disciple is devastated and loses hope. In the midst of his despair, another invitation comes in the form of a young Celt who invites him to walk the ancient path that will become known as the Camino Frances. A slow healing, new hope, and an unexpected reunion await.

Synopsis The Organ Donor Experience by : Katrina Bramstedt
Despite starting slowly with some academic jargon about altruism and people's motivations to donate organs, the book quickly takes a right turn and gets interesting. The authors sprinkle little informative tidbits along the way-Asian-Americans constituted only 3.4% of U.S. donors-and bring their points alive through little vignettes when examining the origins of altruism. The authors would make brilliant sales reps: they put forth a convincing argument about what a great humanitarian effort living donation is then patiently explain the evaluation process to reassure readers of the minimal costs. The few downsides are reviewed and discussed-for example, how to deal with family members who do not support the decision to donate or the devastation donors might experience when a recipient dies. Resources, bibliography, and index occupy a full 36 pages, yet for the most part this book escapes the drudgery of a research-laden study and instead reads as a fascinating story about a very human issue. Synopsis Friendship by : Pamela Baker Powell

Friendship in Christ is eternal. Scripture emphasizes this. Jesus himself emphasized this. Theologians emphasized this throughout the first thousand-plus years of Christian history. Then, it was somehow mostly neglected. This book maintains that friendship isn’t just a passing luxury. Participation in the joy of friendship is a spiritual blessing. It is an unrecognized spiritual discipline that enriches your soul eternally. Here you will have an opportunity to consider your friendships as more than a pleasant engagement and discover what they can mean for your life today and eternally. Join others on this exploration of the exciting truth that friendships are forever!

Synopsis The Samaritans by : Reinhard Pummer
Most people associate the term "Samaritan" exclusively with the New Testament stories about the Good Samaritan and the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. Very few are aware that a small community of about 750 Samaritans still lives today in Palestine and Israel; they view themselves as the true Israelites, having resided in their birthplace for thousands of years and preserving unchanged the revelation given to Moses in the Torah. Reinhard Pummer, one of the world's foremost experts on Samaritanism, offers in this book a comprehensive introduction to the people identified as Samaritans in both biblical and nonbiblical sources. Besides analyzing the literary, epigraphic, and archaeological sources, he examines the Samaritans' history, their geographical distribution, their version of the Pentateuch, their rituals and customs, and their situation today.

Synopsis Keepers, The by : Robert T. Anderson
The Keepers describes the remarkable history and survival of the Samaritans and the unique oppression and grace that have shaped their culture and religion. It is a history whose antagonists have included Jews, Christians, and Muslims, and it has contributed to arguments between Roman Catholics and Protestants over the text of the Bible. The threads of the story disappear at times into Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, but ultimately succeed in affirming the unique Samaritan identity. Popularly associated with phrases like "The Lost Ten Tribes of Israel" and "The Good Samaritan," many are surprised to learn that the Samaritans have a rich history and culture that includes a contemporary chapter. This history is illuminated by stories in the Hebrew Bible and documents from Persian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Islamic sources.
