Synopsis Bone Disorders by : Reiner Bartl
This comprehensive guide covers the investigation, diagnosis, prevention, and therapy of all the bone disorders encountered in medical practice. Written in an easy-to-read style, it updates physicians on the current knowledge of bone structure, physiology, and pathology, with emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of common bone diseases. Today, both medical practitioners and specialists need quick access to information on “bone problems” in order to help patients and their families. Therefore this book deals with everything from the basic physiology of bone and mineral metabolism to the utility of radiologic imaging and specialized tests in bone diagnosis and current treatment recommendations. It is scientifically based but provides clear guidelines for managing bone problems and for lifelong maintenance of skeletal structure and function. It will assist not only in the delivery of effective treatment but also in disease prevention.

Synopsis Diagnosis of Fetal Abnormalities by : G. Pilu
Ultrasound is the main diagnostic tool in the prenatal detection of congenital abnormalities. The Fetal Medicine Foundation has recognized the importance of this tool by setting up a program of training and certification to help establish high standards of scanning on an international scale. Diagnosis of Fetal Abnormalities: The 18-23-Week Scan provides the basis of learning for the theoretical component of this program. The book is a complete, authoritative clinician's textbook on using ultrasound in the prenatal detection of congenital abnormalities. It summarizes the prevalence, etiology, prenatal sonographic features and prognosis for both common and rare fetal abnormalities.

Synopsis Bone Dysplasias by : Jürgen W. Spranger
Many advances have been made in understanding skeletal dysplasias since the first edition of this classic text appeared in 1974. The diagnostic process has been refined, many new disorders have been recognized, and the molecular aspects in many cases have been elucidated. The second edition has been completely renovated, with the help of two new co-authors, to incorporate these advances. The book's format is similar to the original but the number of conditions covered has almost doubled and molecular information has been added wherever available. The number of figures has been increased to the limit of economic wisdom. As in the first edition, the illustrations have been selected and sequenced to illustrate both the degree of variability of a given disorder and its changs with age. This book is designed for physicians involved in the evaluation and treatment of patients with skeletal dysplasias, including radiologists, medical geneticists, pediatricians, and orthopedic surgeons. Its main goal is to assist in the diagnosis of specific conditions and the care of affected individuals. Though mutations of specific genes can produce dysplasias with very different phenotypes and prognoses, the primarily clinical aim of this book dictated a phenotypic classification in general, with compromises on etiologic grounds where necessary. Since the attempt to diagnose a skeletal dysplasia from single signs, alone or in cominations, is fraught with errors, the authors focus on basic patterns of skeletal abnormalities.
