Synopsis The Mystery at Rustlers' Fort by : Troy Nesbit
Phil and Buzz are teenaged cousins who join Buzz’s naturalist parents and little sister, Kitsy, on a summer-long research trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It is the height of the 1950s uranium boom in the Southwest, and the boys sneakily get hold of a Geiger counter to hunt for the element, not realizing that mining is illegal in the national park. Still, the Geiger counter helps to solve a mystery that has plagued the campers all summer long: the constant presence throughout their adventures of a strange character they call "The Dinosaur." Along the way, the boys are introduced to the canyon’s natural history, from Kaibab squirrels to mountain lions, bats, and more. The recurrent themes of the books in the Wilderness Mystery Series are natural phenomena—caves, canyons, mountains, sand dunes, and forests—and a sense of the past as seen through archaeology. In many of the narratives, events of long ago are seen to have left traces of their passing. Notwithstanding the fact that the books were written in the 1950s, the progressive Franklin Folsom (alias Troy Nesbit) had refreshing views of women, Native Americans, and the environment, and he was prescient in having his characters often oppose corporate and government efforts to develop wilderness areas.

Synopsis Mystery Mesa by : Shirleen Davies
A dedicated lawman and single father with a haunted past. Can he risk his heart on a young woman he’ll never deserve? Mystery Mesa, Book Fifteen, Redemption Mountain Historical Western Romance Series Hezekiah Boudreaux’s life is a sequence of surprises. The deputy sheriff in Splendor is still adjusting to the latest twist—being a single father. Hex’s precocious daughter, Lucy, is a handful, and one of two females who bring joy to a life filled with ne'er-do-wells, cons, and rustlers. Christina McKenna is still reeling from the sudden death of her twin. She fills each day taking care of her younger sister while acting as cook and caretaker for Hex Boudreaux and his always active daughter. The problem is, she’s falling in love with her boss. Both believe they have lots of time to determine their futures until the arrival of a beautiful woman in town, a murder during a birthday celebration, and a series of disastrous events force Hex and Chrissy to take a hard look at their lives. Unraveling who to trust, who to hunt, the good from the bad, takes time—a commodity in short supply. Hex knows the longer it takes to identify the killers, the higher the danger to his daughter and the woman he’s come to love.
