Synopsis The Invisible Stairway by : Samuel Avital
These meditations and articles were collected from various writings, as well as public and private talks, by Samuel Ben-Or Avital, and formed into a manuscript in 1982 for private publication. The manual was created for a few students who needed to learn Hebrew in a certain way so that they would have access to reading some Kabbalistic sources in Hebrew. A few instructions for the proper Sephardic pronunciation of the Hebrew Letters were added. It is with great festivity that we announce this first public edition of The Invisible Stairway. This book is a proposition to study, partly, the spiritual and cosmic essential codes of the Hebrew letters in a certain way, simple and direct. It is also meant to assist the student in reading the Biblical Hebrew TORAH properly, and not just in its distorted translations. It will open a gateway to really know what the Torah has concealed within its historic and spiritual simplicity. Courage to you who dare to learn and earn the unique way of a new understanding of the great universe and realities we live in at "these times." "This book is not a scholarly book; it is not a book 'to read.' "It is up to you to find out how to 'eat' it. "In the midst of Fame, keep me hidden." - Samuel Ben-Or Avital "Samuel Ben-Or Avital is 'the hidden Kabbalist of Boulder'." -Rabbi Zalman Meshullam Schachter-Shalomi, Boulder, Colorado. "The letters are words like bodies, meanings are like soul; A letter, a word not opened, is like a dream not interpreted. Words without thoughts are like a foot without muscle." - Commentary on Exodus 20.1, Moshe Ben Ezra, Spanish Jewish Philosopher, c. 1055-1135 "We are all, without exception, crazy. The saving grace of Avital's craziness is that it is concerned with his own spirituality. This concern has consumed every day of his life, and however myopic it may appear to some, it is the matrix and meaning of Avital, the man and the artist." - Paul J. Curtis, Director The American Mime Theatre, New York, 1965. "If you seek some truth or direction in life or art, stay close to Samuel for he might just then crawl out of his shell and give you of his soul." - Moni Yakim Juilliard School, Movement Division, New York "The letters are words like bodies, meanings are like soul; A letter, a word not opened, is like a dream not interpreted. Words without thoughts are like a foot without muscle." - Commentary on Exodus 20.1, Moshe Ben Ezra, Spanish Jewish Philosopher, c. 1055-1135"

Synopsis The Infinite Staircase by : Geoffrey A. Moore
NAUTILUS BOOK AWARD GOLD MEDALIST — BODY, MIND, SPIRIT PRACTICES “Combining an extraordinary range of scholarship with an accessible and entertaining writing style, The Infinite Staircase . . . provides a coherent and unified platform for a full human life.” —Midwest Book Review In this bold new book, high-tech’s best-known strategist makes a seminal contribution to the search for meaning in a secular era. Two questions fundamental to human existence have always been the metaphysical “where do I fit in the grand scheme of things?” and the ethical “how should I behave?” Religion is no longer a source of answers for many people, and nothing has replaced it. Moore uses his signature framework-based approach to answer these questions, taking us on an intellectual roller coaster ride through physics, chemistry, biology, the social sciences and the humanities. Along the way, he builds a metaphorical ladder that leads from the big bang to the need for ethical action in our daily lives. Combining an extraordinary range of scholarship with an accessible and entertaining writing style, The Infinite Staircase: What the Universe Tells Us About Life, Ethics, and Mortality provides a coherent and unified platform for a full human life.

Synopsis The Witch, the Sword, and the Cursed Knights by : Alexandria Rogers
Perfect for fans of The School for Good and Evil and A Tale of Magic…, this Barnes & Noble Children’s Book Award finalist and Amazon Best Book of the Month is a charming fantasy debut that puts a new spin on the legend of Camelot Twelve-year-old Ellie can’t help that she’s a witch, the most hated member of society. Determined to prove her worth and eschew her heritage, Ellie applies to the Fairy Godmother Academy—her golden ticket to societal acceptance. But Ellie’s dreams are squashed when she receives the dreaded draft letter to serve as a knight of King Arthur’s legendary Round Table. She can get out of the draft—but only if she saves a lost cause. Enter Caedmon, a boy from Wisconsin struggling with the death of his best friend. He first dismisses the draft as ridiculous; magic can’t possibly exist. But when Merlin’s ancient magic foretells his family’s death if he doesn’t follow through, he travels to the knights’ castle, where he learns of a wicked curse leeching the knights of their power. To break the curse, Ellie and Caedmon must pass a series of deathly trials and reforge the lost, shattered sword of Excalibur. And unless Ellie accepts her witch magic and Caedmon rises to become the knight he’s meant to be, they will both fail—and the world will fall to the same darkness that brought King Arthur and Camelot to ruin.

Synopsis Secret Stairs by : Charles Fleming
Containing walks and detailed maps from throughout the city, Secret Stairs highlights the charms and quirks of a unique feature of the Los Angeles landscape, and chronicles the geographical, architectural, and historical aspects of the city’s staircases, as well as of the neighborhoods in which the steps are located. From strolling through the classic La Loma neighborhood in Pasadena to walking the Sunset Junction Loop in Silver Lake, to taking the Beachwood Canyon hike through “Hollywoodland” to enjoying the magnificent ocean views from the Castellammare district in Pacific Palisades, Secret Stairs takes you on a tour of the staircases all across the City of Angels. The circular walks, rated for duration and difficulty, deliver tales of historic homes and their fascinating inhabitants, bits of unusual local trivia, and stories of the neighborhoods surrounding the stairs. That’s where William Faulkner was living when he wrote the screenplay for To Have and Have Not; that house was designed by Neutra; over there is a Schindler; that’s where Woody Guthrie lived, where Anais Nin died, and where Thelma Todd was murdered . . . Despite the fact that one of these staircases starred in an Oscar-winning short film—Laurel and Hardy’s The Music Box, from 1932—these civic treasures have been virtually unknown to most of the city’s residents and visitors. Now, Secret Stairs puts these hidden stairways back on the map, while introducing urban hikers to exciting new “trails” all around the city of Los Angeles.
