Synopsis The Eden Syndrome by : Thomas Tortorich
Solarpunk / Positive FuturismThe Global Change Movement has begun...The Eden Syndrome targets our collective desire for global change, appealing to the expanding market for Solapunk: "speculative fiction that revolts against despair." Thought-provoking and generally hopeful in tone, the novel also peers into the dark side of human behavior. The unexpected climax tackles a timely and sensitive issue in a no-holds-barred evisceration of toxic masculinity. The Eden Syndrome is a rallying cry to fight for the future. The year is 2107. After a tumultuous century that included a global stock market collapse in 2054, the world has been carbon neutral for a decade, and the Cambrian Effect has repopulated most of Earth's species. But what started the global change? The Eden Syndrome is a tale of the unlikely origins of hope in Earth's future and the Black Swan that started a domino effect. The privately-funded Sahara Foundation has secretly established Earth's first lunar colony using Self-Evolving Intelligence (S.E.I.). The Foundation's Janus-faced director, K.J. Kreige, is driven by an unforgivable sin. The Foundation's flamboyant financier, Jonas Prout, also has ulterior motives.Frustrated by the exploitation of his life's work, former CyberBiologist Quinn Delterra lives in the remote Amazon with his wife, Quinci, but his life's work comes back to haunt him when the humanoid S.E.I.s on the moon evolve self-awareness, consciousness and cold fusion. Quinn must finish what he started two decades ago and help Lei, the leader of the S.E.I.s, take her final step in becoming sentient. Their fates, and the fate of humanity, converge in a remote Kichwa village in the Amazon, and halfway across the world in an underground facility deep in the Maghreb region of the Northern Sahara.

Synopsis Lucifer Syndrome: Why Malignant Narcissists Are Evil by : Jack Henson
Some people are predators. They have been predators all their lives. But when you encounter these people, they will not present themselves as predators. The absolute reverse is the case. They will depict themselves as victims and prey, heroically fighting back against the predators. They will style themselves as martyrs, fixers, healers, gurus, ascended masters, saviors, messiahs. There is no lie they are not prepared to tell. The bigger the lie, the better the lie, as far as they are concerned. Who are these people? They are the people with Lucifer Syndrome. But the world has a different name for them. It calls them malignant narcissists. However, their prototype is Lucifer, who believed himself the brightest and most perfect of all Creation. Lucifer hated and envied God and could not accept God's superiority and brighter light. It drove him mad. It drove him to war. It drove him to his destruction, his immortal mortification in hell. Evil is real, and there is real evil in our midst. Luciferians are walking amongst us, always lying to us, always trying to do us harm. Like Lucifer himself, they adore themselves and think they are God. They want everyone else to kneel to them and worship them, and they are prepared to say and do anything and trample over any and all bodies to get there. M. Scott Peck called them the "People of the Lie", and that's absolutely right. These people are incapable of being truthful. Humanity can now give a name to the worst and most dangerous people on earth – a menace to all decent, moral, ethical people. They are malignant narcissists and they are pure evil. They have no redeeming qualities. None. The human race must learn to identify them and take decisive action against them, to cut out this cancer of evil. The Antichrist does not present himself as a monster. He presents himself as Christ. Never forget that. There are those on YouTube and social media literally preaching that Lucifer is Jesus. Watch out for them. The snake from Eden has come forth again, and its hiss and lies are louder than ever. If we cut off the head of the snake, we can return to Eden. Isn't it time we faced down evil? Edmund Burke said, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." It has always been thus. Adam and Eve were deceived by the shining lies of the first malignant narcissist – Lucifer. We must not be. Like the cherubim with their fiery swords, we must drive out the snakes amongst us, the Luciferian predators, the evil narcissists. It's God's work.

Synopsis The Spiritual Condition of Infants by : Adam Harwood
What is the spiritual condition of infants? According to the Augustinian-Calvinist view, all people inherit from the first Adam both a sinful nature and his guilt. The result is that all infants are subject to the judgment of God against their nature before they knowingly commit any sinful actions. But is this the clear teaching of Scripture? In The Spiritual Condition of Infants, Adam Harwood examines ten relevant biblical texts and the writings of sixteen theologians in order to clarify the spiritual condition of infants. Although no passage explicitly states the spiritual condition of infants, each text makes contributions by addressing the doctrines of man, sin, the church, and salvation. If this biblical-historical analysis exposes the traditional Augustinian-Calvinist view to be inadequate, then is it possible to construct an alternate view of the spiritual condition of infants? Such a view should remain faithful to the biblical emphasis on humankind's connection to Adam and his sin but also recognize the guilt and condemnation of an individual only in the manner and time that God does in Scripture. That is the aim of this book.

Synopsis Adolescents and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders by : Fred R. Volkmar
The research on children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is extensive and growing. Although these conditions are recognized as affecting the entire lifespan, the literature on ASD after childhood is limited and has not been brought together in a single volume in over a decade. Adolescents and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders fills this knowledge gap by focusing on needs and difficulties unique to these stages of development. Expert contributors offer cogent reviews of complex issues, from education to employment, leisure activities to illegal behaviors, mental health issues to medical health concerns. The latest findings in key areas, such as psychosocial and residential treatments, social skills programs, epidemiology, the impact of ASD on families, are examined in detail. Throughout the volume, coverage focuses on areas requiring improved models of assessment, updated data, new interventions and increased support services. Featured topics include: Transition from high school to adulthood for adolescents and young adults with ASD. Innovative programming to support college students with ASD. Romantic relationships, sexuality and ASD. Treatment of mental health comorbidities. Assessment and treatment planning in adults with ASD. The range of outcomes and challenges in middle and later life. Adolescents and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders is a must-have reference for a wide range of clinicians and practitioners – as well as researchers and graduate students – in clinical child, school and developmental psychology; child and adolescent psychiatry; social work; rehabilitation medicine/therapy; education and general practice/family medicine. It will also serve as an important resource for parents and caregivers with its focus on translating the current state of knowledge relevant to understanding adolescents and adults with ASD into practical and relevant recommendations on how best to support them.

Synopsis Then and Now: Thoughts on Education Abroad by :
Michael Woolf Deputy President for Strategic Development, CEACAPA, London, United Kingdom ABSTRACT Over the last decades education abroad has become more professional. In contrast, most of the elders came into the field from diverse backgrounds. Professionalization has brought demonstrable benefits but, simultaneously, a greater uniformity of thought. The dominant narrative of the value of education abroad has moved from collective good to individual benefit, from idealism to utilitarianism. Shifts in global politics have also challenged the ideological root of internationalism. Since the 1990s, the emergence of radical nationalisms, and militant parochialism has generated closed ideologies in direct collision with the values of international education. We are, thus, in the business of politics. Despite dark political clouds, we have faith in the inexorable curiosity of the young that will not be restrained by real or metaphorical borders. Mobility of mind and body is an aspiration of thoughtful humanity across the world. Keywords: Professionalization. Nationalism. Xenophobia. Commodification. Utilitarianism. Ideologies. Idealism. The Past is a Foreign Country The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there. L.P. Hartley, The Go-Between
