Synopsis The Earth Stories Collection by : Grian A Cutanda
The Earth Stories Collection is a global project consisting of a repository of myths, legends, fables, and folktales from all cultures on the planet, stories capable of conveying a systemic worldview and illustrating the ethical principles and values of the Earth Charter. It is inspired by the Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Norway, an agricultural seed bank where seeds from all regions of the planet are preserved as a food guarantee for humanity in the face of the possibility of a global crisis or disaster. In this sense, The Earth Stories Collection would become a cultural seed bank, a base of global educational resources for the construction -or reconstruction- of a deeply sustainable global society, based on social and economic justice, and values of peace and democracy; that is, the values of the Earth Charter. The Earth Stories Collection is an initiative launched by The Avalon Project - Initiative for a Culture of Peace, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Earth Charter International and the Scottish International Storytelling Festival. In this book you will find the first installment of 45 myths, legends and folktales from around the world capable of transmitting a systemic and ecocentric worldview, as well as the principles and values of the Earth Charter. But you will also find, in the first half of the book, the theoretical and scientific justification that has given rise to the Collection.

Synopsis Songs of the Earth by : Elspeth Cooper
The Book of Eador, Abjurations 12:14, is very clear: Suffer ye not the life of a witch. For a thousand years, the Church Knights have obeyed that commandment, sending to the stake anyone who can hear the songs of the earth. There are no exceptions, not even for one of their own. Novice Knight Gair can hear music no one else can, beautiful, terrible music: music with power. In the Holy City, that can mean only one thing: death by fire—until an unlikely intervention gives him a chance to flee the city and escape the flames. With the Church Knights and their witchfinder hot on his heels, Gair hasn't time to learn how to use the power growing inside him, but if he doesn't master it, that power will tear him apart. His only hope is the secretive Guardians of the Veil, though centuries of persecution have almost destroyed their Order, and the few Guardians left have troubles of their own. For the Veil between worlds is weakening, and behind it, the Hidden Kingdom, ever-hungry for dominion over the daylight realm, is stirring. Though he is far from ready, Gair will find himself fighting for his own life, for everyone within the Order of the Veil, and for the woman he has come to love. Synopsis This Jealous Earth by : Scott Dominic Carpenter
A man puts his beloved pets to the knife; a family prepares for the Rapture; a woman in a department store slips a necklace into her purse. Whatever the situation, the characters in This Jealous Earth find themselves faced with moments of decision that will forever alter the course of their lives. Always moving and often touched with humor, Carpenter's stories examine the tension between the everyday and the transcendent-our struggle to grasp what lies beyond our reach. Whether hawking body parts in a Midwestern city, orbiting through the galleries of a Paris museum or plotting sibling tortures in an Arizona desert, his characters lead us through a series of dilemmas of universal appeal. This Jealous Earth has received praise from Publishers Weekly, The Rumpus, Gregory Blake Smith, Siri Hustvedt and has been featured on Minnesota Public Radio. The second edition features a brand new story, titled "The Bait."
