Synopsis Dark Mirrors by : Andrei A. Orlov
Dark Mirrors is a wide-ranging study of two central figures in early Jewish demonology—the fallen angels Azazel and Satanael. Andrei A. Orlov explores the mediating role of these paradigmatic celestial rebels in the development of Jewish demonological traditions from Second Temple apocalypticism to later Jewish mysticism, such as that of the Hekhalot and Shi'ur Qomah materials. Throughout, Orlov makes use of Jewish pseudepigraphical materials in Slavonic that are not widely known. Orlov traces the origins of Azazel and Satanael to different and competing mythologies of evil, one to the Fall in the Garden of Eden, the other to the revolt of angels in the antediluvian period. Although Azazel and Satanael are initially representatives of rival etiologies of corruption, in later Jewish and Christian demonological lore each is able to enter the other's stories in new conceptual capacities. Dark Mirrors also examines the symmetrical patterns of early Jewish demonology that are often manifested in these fallen angels' imitation of the attributes of various heavenly beings, including principal angels and even God himself.

Synopsis The Herstories Project by : Jessica Smock
The bonds of women's friendship can be more intimate than marriage, and just as essential to emotional health. From the childhood friend who broke your heart to the college roommate who witnessed you at your highest and lowest, from the lost friendship that ended bitterly to the devoted companion who is still in your life, from the bond that was forged due to shared grief to the shaky connection born with new motherhood, all women have stories to tell about their friendships. The HerStories Project: Women Explore the Joy, Pain, and Power of Female Friendship is a collection of essays from over 50 women writers, encompassing tales of friendship from the sandbox to the inbox. The book includes a foreword from Jill Smokler of Scary Mommy and several chapters on understanding friendship from friendship experts Shasta Nelson and Carlin Flora. In this book, you will read stories of childhood friendship, relationships between sisters, mothers, and daughters, grown-up friendships--both real life and online-- friendships during motherhood, and stories of friendship break-ups and losses. Whether you identify with the new mother who struggles with loneliness, the woman who looks forward to her social media notifications, the challenging and complex relationship of sisters, or the stories of friends that have drifted apart, you will recognize yourself somewhere in the pages of this book.

Synopsis The Art of Black Mirror Scrying by : Rosemary Ellen Guiley
The black mirror is a powerful divination and visioning tool, revered for centuries for its ability to penetrate the veil between worlds. Mirror gazing, or scrying, is an ancient art for making contact with the dead, opening the gates to the angelic realm, seeing into the future and past, and seeing distant locations. All kinds of shiny surfaces have been used as tools, but the black mirror stands above them all. This complete and concise guide covers the history of black mirrors and scrying, and famous people who have relied on mirrors to reveal secrets and truth. It explains how black mirrors work in psychic seeing, and gives detailed advice on how to use a black mirror for talking to the dead, exploring the astral plane, discovering past lives, expanding your spiritual knowledge, and much more. Follow in the footsteps of history's great alchemists, mediums, and sages, such as John Dee, Queen Elizabeth I's royal astronomer, who used scrying to contact angels, and Nostradamus, the famous French seer whose prophecies reached far into the future. I have been an avid reader of Rosemary Ellen Guiley's work for over 25 years and this book is one of her best yet! She takes you on a journey through the dark mirror to make contact with the spirit world, develop psychic skills, explore your past lives, and uncover hidden truths. With her direct, no-nonsense style, Rosemary packs this book full of the information you need to master the use of this ancient visionary tool! -- Christian Day, author, The Witches' Book of the Dead

Synopsis The Demons Within by : Andrew Gardner
Run! I scream to myself inside my head, anything to get me to move. I stand paralyzed, frozen to the ground. I see oft in the distance the shadowy figure drawing nearer to me. My heart skips a beat, and I panic. I have to run, but I can't. I watch as the figure pulls closer. He is nearly upon me. Finally, in a last-second action of self-preservation, I turn and begin to flee, running as quickly as my feet can carry me yet losing ground to this entity. I feel my legs starting to give out. I crash hard to the ground, and I turn over; it's upon me. I fight back with everything I can muster. This battle is too important to lose. The entity is so strong, so powerful, I feel as though I'm losing this fight. I can feel its evil starting to overtake me. I can't give up. In a fit of bloody rage, I pull myself free from my captor and take flight again, trying to escape this force.

Synopsis Demons by : Andrew Coddington
There are many creatures that inspire folklore. Some have existed for thousands of years, while others are more recent incarnations. Among the most enduring creatures of the past are demons. These creatures are as old as the Jewish faith, perhaps older, and hold a special place in the lives of humans. This book delves into the oldest demon folktales, explores the ways different cultures have experienced demons, and examines how demons are treated today.
