The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1966, volume 3, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee in the Far East from October 18 through December 30, 1966. Beginning on October 1 Brother Lee spent six months in the Far East, visiting Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The contents of this volume are divided into six sections, as follows: 1. Thirteen messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, from October 18 through 22. These messages were previously published in Chinese under the title Living in the Spirit, Standing on the Church Ground, and Spreading the Gospel. 2. Fourteen messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on October 25 through 29. These messages were previously published in Chinese under the title The Revelation of Christ and the Reality of the Church. 3. Eleven messages given in Taipei and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, from the end of October through the beginning of December. These messages were previously published in Chinese under the title The Transformation of Life and the Building Up of the Church. 4. Two messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, in October. These messages were translated from Chinese and are included in this volume under the title Lord's Day Messages in Taipei. 5. Five messages given in a series of gospel meetings held in Taipei, Taiwan, on November 5 through 9 and in Hong Kong on December 8 through 11. These messages were translated from Chinese and are included in this volume under the title Gospel Messages. 6. Eight messages given in a young people's conference in Baguio, Philippines, from December 25 through 30. These messages were previously published in Chinese under the title Made Full in Christ and Walking by the Spirit.

At the time of regeneration, all believers receive the divine life and are begotten as children of God. Yet, this life most grow and it does so by regulation unto maturity and function. This regulation comes from revelation and issues in obedience. This word is crucial for our progress and training in the divine life for our maturity and function in our living and service to God.

The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1966, volume 2, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee primarily in Los Angeles, California, in August 1966. The final section of this volume consists of messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, in October and November 1966. From the middle of July to the end of September, Brother Lee remained in Los Angeles. At the beginning of October he began a six-month visit to the Far East, including Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The contents of this volume are divided into eight sections, as follows: 1. Six messages given during the summer training in Los Angeles, California, from August 3 through 6. Nine messages given during the summer training in Los Angeles, California, from August 13 through 18. Seven messages given in Los Angeles, California, from August 23 through 26 and September 6. They are included in this section under the title The Way to Bear Fruit. The first six messages were previously published in The Ministry magazine in volume 3, number 9 through volume 4, number 5. 5. Six messages given in Los Angeles, California, on August 9 through 20. These messages are included in this volume under the title Additional Words in Response to the Testing and Testimonies of the Saints during the 1966 Summer Training in Los Angeles. 6. Fifteen messages given during the summer training in Los Angeles, California, from August 4 through 25. These messages were edited and previously published in a thirteen-chapter book entitled The Divine Spirit with the Human Spirit in the Epistles. 7. One message spoken at the conclusion of the summer conference and training in Los Angeles, California, on August 26. This message is included in this section under the title Enjoying the Riches of Christ to Bear Much Fruit as the Body of Christ, Standing on the Unique Ground of Oneness. 8. Seventeen messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on October 6 through 12 and November 1 and 11. These messages were translated from Chinese and are included in this volume under the title Being Delivered from Religious Practices by the Exercise of the Spirit.

This book presents a vision of Christ and the church. It then goes on the emphasize the need to experience this Christ as the Spirit in our spirit and to practice the church life on the ground of oneness.

When God created man, He placed him before two trees: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life. In warning man to avoid the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, God indicated His desire for man to eat of the tree of life, signifying that man should receive God as his life supply. Witness Lee unveils in The Tree of Life that God is not looking for well-behaved Christians; He is looking for those who will experience and enjoy Christ as the reality of the tree of life.

"In God's dispensation and economy, the leading ministry is the priesthood. In this universe God has an administration, a divine economy. His economy is the way He arranges or dispenses. Therefore, it is a kind of dispensation. According to the Bible there are three main ministries in God's divine dispensation: the priesthood, the kingship, and the prophethood. The priesthood is the leading ministry of the three and brings the kingship and prophethood into function. In other words, both the kingship and the prophethood depend upon the leading ministry of the priesthood."

The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1966, volume 1, contains messages and fellowship given by Brother Witness Lee from January through August 1966. For the first three months of the year, Brother Lee remained in Los Angeles, except for a brief visit to San Francisco in late February. From the end of March through the middle of April, he visited Mineral Wells, Waco, Tyler, and Plainview, Texas. From Texas he proceeded to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and then he returned to San Francisco at the end of April. He spent the month of May in Los Angeles. From mid-June to mid-July he visited a number of cities in the Midwest, including Indianapolis, Indiana; Mansfield and Warren, Ohio; East Peoria, Illinois; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The only record of his visit to these cities consists of four messages given in Warren, Ohio. In the middle of July, Brother Lee returned to Los Angeles and remained there through the end of September. The contents of this volume are divided into twelve sections, as follows: 1. Eight messages given in Los Angeles, California, from January 30 through March 20. These messages are included in this volume under the title Miscellaneous Lord's Day Meetings in Los Angeles. 2. Four messages given in Los Angeles, California, from February 4 through March 18. These messages are included in this volume under the title Messages on Matthew. 3. Four messages given in San Francisco, California, on February 22 through 25. These messages are included in this volume under the title The Lord's Recovery of the Church. 5. Five messages given in San Francisco, California, from April 29 through May 1. These messages are included in this volume under the title Enjoying Christ as Our Feast to Be His Fruit-bearing Branches. 6. One message given in Tyler, Texas, on April 10. This message is published in this volume under the title Exercising Our Spirit in Our Daily Life for the Meeting Life. 7. Four messages given in Plainview, Texas, on April 15 through 18. They were previously published in The Stream, volume 4, number 4, November 1966, under the title God's High Calling. 8. Seven messages given in Los Angeles, California, on May 10 through 31. These messages are included in this volume under the title Fellowship on Life, Building, and Fruit-bearing. The last two messages were combined into one chapter. 9. Five messages given in Los Angeles, California, from May 13 through 28. These messages are published in this volume under the title Miscellaneous Messages in Los Angeles. 10. This book traces "the New Testament service in the Gospel of Matthew from its beginning with the conceiving of Christ of the Holy Spirit, to finding Christ by following the heavenly living star, on to testifying of Christ in a living way, and then to the matter of following Christ. Finally, [it considers] the matter of life and the matter of work in the New Testament service according to the parables of the ten virgins and of the talents. In all these aspects, it is a governing principle in our service in the church life that the New Testament service is a service of coordination in every step to fulfill the Lord's purpose."

In the Lord’s recovery during the past five hundred years the church’s knowledge of the Lord and His truth has been continually progressing. This monumental and classical work by Brother Witness Lee builds upon and is a further development of all that the Lord has revealed to His church in the past centuries. It is filled with the revelation concerning the processed Triune God, the living Christ, the life-giving Spirit, the experience of life, and the definition and practice of the church. In this set Brother Lee has kept three basic principles that should rule and govern every believer in their interpretation, development, and expounding of the truths contained in the Scriptures. The first principle is that of the Triune God dispensing Himself into His chosen and redeemed people; the second principle is that we should interpret, develop, and expound the truths contained in the Bible with Christ for the church; and the third governing principle is Christ, the Spirit, life, and the church. No other study or exposition of the New Testament conveys the life nourishment or ushers the reader into the divine revelation of God’s holy Word according to His New Testament economy as this one does.
