Synopsis The Bible Salesman by : Clyde Edgerton
Preston Clearwater has been a criminal since stealing two chain saws and 1,600 pairs of aviator sunglasses from the army during the Second World War. Back on the road in postwar North Carolina, now a member of a car-theft ring, he picks up hitchhiking Henry Dampier, an innocent twenty-year-old Bible salesman. Clearwater immediately recognizes Henry as smart but gullible, just the associate he needs--one who will believe Clearwater is working undercover for the F.B.I.; one who will drive the cars Clearwater steals as Clearwater follows along in his own car at a safe distance. Henry joyfully sees a chance to lead a dual life as a Bible salesman and a G-man. During his hilarious and scary adventures, Henry grapples with doubts about the Bible's accuracy, and we learn of his fundamentalist upbringing, an upbringing that doesn't prepared him for his new life. As he falls in love with the captivating Marleen Green and questions his religious training, Henry begins to see he's being used--that he is on his own in a way he never imagined.

Synopsis Confessions of a Bible Salesman by : Kelley Litsch
It was 1981, during his junior year at college, Kelley Litsch was about to go on an adventure of a lifetime. Starting with a prayer at the side of his bed of his dorm room in April, he gave God complete control over his summer. Within minutes of the prayer, God started moving and did not stop. This adventure involved the occupation as a door-to-door bible salesman, but life-long lessons emerged. His daily forays into the hills of Virginia and North Carolina introduced him to a new way of life; a life of daily dependence upon God including miracles, close calls with death, and meeting some of the finest people on earth, and some not so fine. This book gives great examples of faith, constant prayer, leadership, and tenacity. Mainly it tells the story of what God can do with a willing believer using that person's personality. Kelley Litsch was raised on a farm near Lockney, Texas and moved to Altus, Oklahoma as a teenager when both parents became schoolteachers. He graduated with a Psychology degree from Oklahoma State University in 1982. He has worked in the property and casualty insurance field since graduation. He has taught as well as led small groups in church for the past three decades. He and wife Lisa live outside of Lubbock, Texas and have two children and two grandchildren.
