Synopsis Make Your Own Magic Soil by : Patricia Johnson
Make your own magic soil tells of a tale of two 6th graders, Adrien and Chantia, who, on their quest to learn about composting and making soil, use the trash collected after their lunch period. With the help of their science teacher, they learn about biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and without knowing it, perform the steps of the scientific method, a skill necessary for scientists to make investigations. Although a skeptic to this process, Chantia is convinced after learning all there was to know about composting, that soil really can be made from trash. Together, Adrien and Chantia started the Clean up and Compost Campaign at their school. Included in this book are a number of activities to make composting fun such as a quiz, word puzzles, homework assignments, a garbage survey, a backyard exploration exercise and step-by-step instructions on how anyone can make their own magic soil. The goal of this book is to educate kids on their environment at school in a fun and interactive way that allows them to spread their knowledge and experiences to their community in fostering little stewards of the environment.

Synopsis Destination Anthropocene by : Amelia Moore
Destination Anthropocene documents the emergence of new travel imaginaries forged at the intersection of the natural sciences and the tourism industry in a Caribbean archipelago. Known to travelers as a paradise of sun, sand, and sea, The Bahamas is rebranding itself in response to the rising threat of global environmental change, including climate change. In her imaginative new book, Amelia Moore explores an experimental form of tourism developed in the name of sustainability, one that is slowly changing the way both tourists and Bahamians come to know themselves and relate to island worlds.
