Synopsis Systems Effectiveness by : A. R. Habayeb

Highlights three principal applications of system effectiveness: hardware system evaluation, organizational development and evaluation, and conflict analysis. The text emphasizes the commonality of the system effectiveness discipline. The first part of the work presents a framework for system effectiveness, partitioning and hierarchy of hardware systems. The second part covers the structure, hierarchy, states, functions and activities of organizations. Contains an extended Appendix on mathematical concepts and also several project suggestions.

Synopsis Electronic Systems Effectiveness and Life Cycle Costing by : J. K. Skwirzynski

This volume contains the complete proceedings of a NATO Advanced Study Institute on various aspects of the reliability of electronic and other systems. The aim of the Insti~ute was to bring together specialists in this subject. An important outcome of this Conference, as many of the delegates have pointed out to me, was complementing theoretical concepts and practical applications in both software and hardware. The reader will find papers on the mathematical background, on reliability problems in establishments where system failure may be hazardous, on reliability assessment in mechanical systems, and also on life cycle cost models and spares allocation. The proceedings contain the texts of all the lectures delivered and also verbatim accounts of panel discussions on subjects chosen from a wide range of important issues. In this introduction I will give a short account of each contribution, stressing what I feel are the most interesting topics introduced by a lecturer or a panel member. To visualise better the extent and structure. of the Institute, I present a tree-like diagram showing the subjects which my co-directors and I would have wished to include in our deliberations (Figures 1 and 2). The names of our lecturers appear underlined under suitable headings. It can be seen that we have managed to cover most of the issues which seemed important to us. Synopsis Health System Efficiency by : Jonathan Cylus

In this book the authors explore the state of the art on efficiency measurement in health systems and international experts offer insights into the pitfalls and potential associated with various measurement techniques. The authors show that: - The core idea of efficiency is easy to understand in principle - maximizing valued outputs relative to inputs, but is often difficult to make operational in real-life situations - There have been numerous advances in data collection and availability, as well as innovative methodological approaches that give valuable insights into how efficiently health care is delivered - Our simple analytical framework can facilitate the development and interpretation of efficiency indicators.

Synopsis Cost-Effectiveness Analysis by : Howard Eisner

This book provides an overview of cost-effectiveness analysis, which is a well-known and intuitive method for defining and choosing among a set of alternatives. This book relates cost-effectiveness analysis to systems engineering to solve everyday problems at home and the office. It can also be used in technical processes, system design, and project management. Cost-Effectiveness Analysis: A Systems Engineering Perspective starts with providing an overview and background of cost-effectiveness analysis and how it’s used. It then goes on to discuss cost-effectiveness concerning systems engineering and links its use to resolving military issues and problems. The book comes to an end with exploring the usage related to systems architecting, re-engineering office systems, and comparing its use to everyday life decision-making scenarios. Targeted market includes general engineers, systems engineers, process engineers, project management, scientists, technologists, mathematicians, and lawyers.

Synopsis Assessing Organizational Effectiveness by : Raymond F. Zammuto

In this study, Raymond Zammuto has cast the concept of organizational effectiveness within the framework of societal evolution. He thus takes into account evolving needs, expectations, and environmental constraints and examines the continual process of becoming, rather than being, effective. Synopsis Improving Healthcare Quality in Europe Characteristics, Effectiveness and Implementation of Different Strategies by : OECD

This volume, developed by the Observatory together with OECD, provides an overall conceptual framework for understanding and applying strategies aimed at improving quality of care. Crucially, it summarizes available evidence on different quality strategies and provides recommendations for their implementation. This book is intended to help policy-makers to understand concepts of quality and to support them to evaluate single strategies and combinations of strategies.
