Synopsis The Genuine, Imitation, Plastic Kidnapping by : Les Edgerton
A mix of Cajun gumbo, a couple tablespoons of kinky sex and a dash of unusual New Orleans settings and you wind up with Les Edgerton’s latest romp fest! Pete Halliday is busted out of baseball for gambling and travels to New Orleans to make his fortune hustling. Five years later, he’s deep in debt to a bookie and in cahoots with Tommy LeClerc, a Cajun with a tiny bit of Indian blood who considers himself a red man. Tommy inveigles a reluctant Pete into one scheme after another, the latest a kidnapping scheme where they’ll snatch the Cajun Mafia King and hold his amputated hand for some serious jack. Along the way, Pete is double-crossed by Tommy and falls in love with part-time hooker and full-time waitress Cat Duplaisir. With both the Italian and Cajun mobs after them, a chase through Jazz Fest, a Tourette’s outbreak in a black bar and other zany adventures, all seems lost. Fans of Tim Dorsey’s character Serge Storms, and readers who enjoy Christopher Moore and Carl Hiaasen, will enjoy this story. Praise for THE GENUINE, IMITATION, PLASTIC KIDNAPPING: “A hard-driving, relentless story with grab-you-by-the-throat characters.” —Grant Blackwood, New York Times bestselling author “The Genuine, Imitation, Plastic Kidnapping is not for the faint of heart, and that’s just one of its selling points. If you like crime fiction that cracks wise while offering a peek into the darker recesses, this is the book for you.” —Bill Fitzhugh, author of Pest Control and The Exterminators “… a dark crime comedy that will have you laughing from page one. It crackles with manic energy and mad thrills. If you’re looking for a different kind of edgy crime novel, this is the one to grab.” —Bill Crider, author of the Sheriff Dan Rhodes Mysteries “Les Edgerton’s latest book is the real deal, and has everything to keep you turning the pages. It’s a caper, full of fun and high-jinx, but it’s also bitter-sweet, engendering a full range of emotions. You’ll smile, you’ll wince, you’ll laugh out loud, and sometimes you’ll even cringe, but you’ll come away from the read feeling thoroughly satisfied and entertained. A terrific read.” —Matt Hilton, author of the bestselling Joe Hunter thrillers

Synopsis Old Ghosts by : Nik Korpon
After barely escaping Boston with his life, Beto has settled in Baltimore and now leads a quiet life, working construction and carving a tiny existence for him and his wife, Luz, whose family was driven from Mexico by warring cartels. What they really want is a child, but because of Beto’s accident with a piece of rebar, they are unable. At least, that’s what he tells Luz. But when a pair of old childhood friends come into town unannounced and threaten to tear apart Beto's life by exposing his criminal past, Beto learns that not all family is blood, and no amount of blood can save all family. Praise for OLD GHOSTS: “Who you are is who you’ve been, for better or for worse. There’s old ghosts everywhere, but, now, as far as I’m concerned, there’s only one Old Ghosts, and it’s Nik Korpon’s.”—Stephen Graham Jones, author of Mongrels “Nik Korpon brings us back to a Baltimore we haven’t seen since The Wire and answers the question of what might’ve been if The Grifters’ Roy Dillon had tried to settle down, go straight and have a kid. A story of brothers and sisters or lovers, Old Ghosts reads like a horror story down one man’s memory lane. Not to be missed!” —Seth Harwood, author of Jack Wakes Up “Nik Korpon’s Old Ghosts is about old friends and older dreams getting in the way of your present, and then totally kicking the shit out of your future. Plus rebar. Moody, smart, sexy, and tension-filled, Old Ghosts is a whip crack of a crime novella.” —Paul Tremblay, author of The Cabin at the End of the World and A Head Full of Ghosts

Synopsis I See An Angel by : Rose Mary Luke
This book offers the reader a precise and rare opportunity to explore an extraordinary spiritual experience. It is an introduction into a heavenly event that began with the appearance of an Angel. Most importantly, this is a testament to why the Angel appeared to Rose Mary in the hospital on October 7, 2011. What is very distinctive about this book is the author endeavors to convey to the reader a detailed chronicle of this glorious event that she personally witnessed. It is unlike any other book previously written because of the appearance of the Angel and the profound message conveyed to Rose Mary by the Angel through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Angel said to her, "I bring you a message. Tell them it is almost time." This message contains only six words, but the impact of these words will prove to be of great significance for all Humanity. The message, while a profound warning in its origin, is also a message of hope. What will God's children interpret the message to mean? What does God truly expect from His children? Almighty God loves all His children so much that it is beyond our capacity of understanding. God desires all His children to learn how to love one another and to live in peace. God is trying to get our attention before evil destroys Humanity and the entire world. The message is a severe reminder that God loves every Soul immensely, but God's people must return this love by proving to Him we all have the moral convictions to turn our back on evil and love and trust in His mercy. It was during the process of writing the book that the author was further inspired by the Holy Spirit through the Angel to persevere and reveal what must be said. There are thirty-three intense chapters. Each chapter is a culmination of issues pertinent to why the Angel appeared with a profound message. Our Holy Father, who is in Heaven, watches over His children with infinite love, compassion, and mercy. The overall responsibility of Rose Mary to write this book has become a mission of love for her. I See An Angel is the most vital endeavor of the author's life. The amazing account of the event that took place by a visit from an Angel merits only the highest degree of recognition to Almighty God. All praise and honor is yours, Almighty Father, forever and ever.

Synopsis Giacomo Meyerbeer by : Robert Ignatius Letellier
The fame of Giacomo Meyerbeer is associated principally with the operatic stage, but he wrote for the voice extensively in other genres as well, including non-operatic stage works, occasional public works, sacred music, choral music and songs, This volume collates and presents, in the original and in English translation, as many of these texts as have been published, or whose manuscripts have proved accessible to the editors. There are six parts devoted to the various genres . Part 1 looks at the non-operatic stage works, the dramatic cantata he wrote at the beginning of his Italian period Gli Amori di Teolinda (1817), the masque written for Prussian court festivities Das Hoffest zu Ferrara (1842), and songs included in plays. Part 2 is devoted to the occasional works Meyerbeer was asked to write throughout his life, twelve cantatas born out of commissions to celebrate dynastic events and to praise the deeds of famous men. Their festive purposes mark anniversaries of illustrious figures (like Guttenberg, Frederick the Great, Schiller, Rauch), commemorate events in national life like the Wars of Liberation recalled in the choral soliloquy, the Bayerische Schützen Marsch (1831, to words by King Ludwig I of Bavaria), or the visit of Queen Victoria to the Rhine in 1845, or the twenty-fifth wedding anniversary of the King and Queen of Prussia in 1854. Linked to these are the part songs for male chorus given in Part 4, a ubiquitous German choral tradition; most of them were written for the Friends of the Berlin Singakademie, and used the themes so typical of communal merrymaking and affirmation—unity, friendship, patriotism, homeland, hunting: Part 3 surveys the texts for sacred music, from the early oratorio Gott und die Natur (1811) to the canticle Ineffable splendeur de la gloire eternelle drawn from Thomas à Kempis (1862-3). The young composer’s skills and serious endeavours were demonstrated by the song cycle using seven religious odes by Klopstock (Sieben Geistliche Gesänge, 1812, revised 1841)—an early involvement with religious texts that continued intermittently throughout his life, and manifested itself preeminently in his eight-part setting of Psalm 91 (1853) and his beautiful choral version of the Our Father (1857). Meyerbeer also wrote songs consistently, from his six Italian ariettas of 1810 to a canon for two voices completed in December 1862. These Lieder, mélodies and canzonette reflected the circumstances of his career, the various cultural milieux he moved in. They also helped to keep his name in the public eye in the wake of his great operatic successes, gaining popular currency by publication in musical journals. Part 5 provides the words of 54 of the 83 songs that are listed in his diaries. These texts are given a visual dimension by some 36 illustrations, mostly the beautifully engraved titles pages of many of the published works.
