Andragogy may be defined as a scientific discipline for study of the research, theory, processes, technology, practice, and anything else of value and benefit including learning, teaching, instructing, guiding, leading, and modeling/exemplifying a way of life that would help to facilitate and bring adults to their full degree of humaneness. Andragogy is one part of the broader international field of adult education, human resource development, and lifelong learning, thus serving the advancement and connection needs of adult learners, organizational development, and lifelong learning in areas such as higher education, business, military, corporate training, healthcare, executive leadership, courtroom practice, religious life, and human resource development. Facilitating Adult and Organizational Learning Through Andragogy: A History, Philosophy, and Major Themes investigates the history, philosophy, and major themes of andragogy and how they may contribute to helping practitioners to design and facilitate adult and organizational learning. The book presents more than 500 documents that are examined through two different lenses. The first lens is the history and philosophy (or a chronological approach) of andragogy while the second lens takes a look at the major themes as categories of what the documents express. While encompassing the background, uses, and future of andragogy, this book is ideally intended for teachers, administrators, practitioners, stakeholders, researchers, academicians, and students.

The Internet has ushered in a new era in the economies of networking. With the increasing need for optimization based on these network economies, the IT-based e-business has become a platform for study as well as daily practice. In a similar vein, global warming has raised many issues which come into conflict with traditional research and policies. The Internet revolution has also shifted our society from a government- and company-led economy to a ‘netizen’- and consumer-led business world. This book enlightens us on why a harmonized participation of traditional network members or interested groups is necessary and how we can create values from diverse fields of interests and objectives, including the corporate social responsibility (CSR) and eco-friendly productivity. This comprehensive volume was put together in response to the growing amount of research on tourism in Asia and an increasing number of authors from Asian countries. It concentrates on two aspects of Asian Tourism: first, the Asian tourists themselves, and second, economic development and tourism in the Asian region. The first part of the collection focuses on three areas: the motivations of different types of Asian tourist; the characteristics and behaviour of particular Asian tourist segments; and, finally, an analysis of specific research issues. The second part of the book then goes on to explore the governance and organisation of tourism in the Asian region, and the nature of Asian growth and competitiveness as it relates to tourism. The articles in this book were originally published in the journal Current Issues in Tourism.

It also discusses the fact that many sustainability-promoting innovations require substantial technological advances.

Myanmar is a country vastly rich in gold, silver, base metals, tin–tungsten, gems and hydrocarbons and is one of the last exploration frontiers remaining in the world. Tectonically Myanmar lies at the eastern end of the Himalayan Mountain Chain and over the last 50 Ma has been profoundly affected by the collision between India and Eurasia, which is still ongoing, with frequent destructive earthquakes. Recent advances have been made in understanding the results of the collision, through the study of geochronology, seismicity, stratigraphy and structure. The development of a systematic mapping programme has been restricted by problems of access, due to limited infrastructure and armed insurgencies, meaning that large areas of the country have not been explored adequately. Recent political changes and reforms, with reconciliations with various ethnic groups, however, will permit access to large areas in Kayin, Kayah, Shan and Kachin States, enabling further research and exploration in new crustal blocks and terranes. In this Memoir a group of Myanmar and international geologists have combined to include all that is currently known about the geology of Myanmar, its mineral and energy resources and its tectonic development.

This book is a compilation of papers presented at the first international conference on ‘Challenges Faced in Interpretation and Site Management in Fortifications and World Heritage’, organised jointly by ICOFORT India, the National Scientific Committee on Fortifications and Military Heritage of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) India, ICOFORT International Scientific Committee, the World Monuments Fund, the School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal, UNESCO, and the DRONAH Foundation held in February 2015. It brought together a team of international and national experts, architects and scholars who shared their experiences and opinions, and looked at possible solutions to the problems faced in site management and interpretation of fortifications. Structured as per conference sessions, the book provides a preface based on the ICOFORT Charter, and is divided into three sections: namely, Classifying Fortified Heritage; Conservation and Management Challenges in Forts; and Interpretation and Tourism Challenges in Forts. The book will appeal to both a national and international audience, composed primarily of heritage experts, architects, archivists, students of architecture, ICOMOS members, and scholars with a focus on fortifications and world heritage.
