Synopsis Cars of the Sensational '60s by : Daniel Lyons
It was "anything goes" in the automobile business in the 1960s. After overdosing on chrome and high-rise tailfins in the 1950s, automakers rolled out a dizzying variety of styles, shapes and sizes in the irreverent '60s. The resulting fleet included some of the most unique cars ever made: muscle cars like the GTO, Charger, Camaro and Shelby Mustang; luxury cruisers like the Chrysler 300 letter cars, elongated Cadillacs and big-body Thunderbirds; and oddities like the Corvair and Avanti that blazed their own trails. It was a fascinating era with fascinating cars?Cars of the Sensational '60s.

Synopsis Swedish Sensationsfilms by : Daniel Ekeroth
By and large, Sweden's place in film history is secure and prominent. Swedish films are associated with Ingmar Bergman's successful and high-quality works. However, another breed of Swedish film is notorious for its laissez-faire attitude towards nudity and relaxed sexuality. Produced in the back yard of the Swedish film industry, these sexually daring films join countless sensational movies that deal with shocking or taboo subjects - street punks, space aliens, hard drugs and drunken Vikings. Ekeroth delves into Swedish culture and returns with an overview of 'Sensationsfilms'.

Synopsis The Magnificent '60s by : Brian Hannan
Hollywood in the 1960s walked a tightrope between boom and bust. Yet the decade spawned many of the greatest films ever made, saw the advent of the spy thriller, the revival of science fiction and horror, and represented the Golden Era of the 70mm roadshow. Blockbusters like Lawrence of Arabia and The Sound of Music shared marquees with low-budget hits such as Lilies of the Field and Easy Rider. New stars emerged--Steve McQueen, Sidney Poitier, Barbra Streisand, Sean Connery, Faye Dunaway, Clint Eastwood and Dustin Hoffman. Veteran directors like Billy Wilder and William Wyler were joined by the post-war generation of Robert Aldrich and Stanley Kramer, and the new wave of Stanley Kubrick and John Schlesinger. This book explores a period when filmmakers embraced revolutionary attitudes to sexuality, violence and racism, and produced a bewildering list of critically acclaimed classics that remain audience favorites.

Synopsis The Sensational Alex Harvey by : John Neil Munro
Glasgow-born Alex Harvey's career began in the 1950s when he won a competition to become Scotland's answer to Tommy Steele (he dubbed himself 'Last of the Teenage Idols'). He was a devoted family man but in front of an audience he became an unforgettable entertainer - courageous, provocative and intense. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band eventually became one of the most exciting live acts of the 1970s, taking in Jacques Brel, rock and vaudeville. But Harvey's life offstage was beset by tragedy and alcoholism: his younger brother, Les, was electrocuted on stage; his manager and friend Billy Fehilly was killed in a plane crash; eventually, with his band in tatters, Alex sank into a sea of alcohol, finally succumbing to a fatal heart attack while waiting for a ferry home from Belgium in 1982, the day before his 47th birthday.
