Synopsis Sailing Bear Cub by : Paula C. Vickery
Using offshore sailing as an analogy to sailing ones’ own life, the author reflects back on her life-long affiliation with water and boats and how they are intertwined with relationships in her life. From one woman’s perspective, this memoir describes how a family built a sailboat, cut society’s comfort cord and began a five-year sailing adventure to the South Pacific. This memoir is an excellent read for sailing “doers, doners, and dreamers”. It is full of adventure, and humor. The author was able to glean an awareness and insight into many cultures in Oceania and shares descriptive experiences with people she encountered. It is a glimpse of off the beaten track places. The author describes an extraordinary life that most people can’t even fathom, as well as lessons she learned and how she coped while the winds of life were filling her sails.

Synopsis Skip Novak on Sailing by : Skip Novak
Skip Novak is revered around the world for his sailing adventures. In this book he brings together the sum of his knowledge and the wisdom of his experience so you can follow in his wake – or create your own. Drawing from his longstanding column for Yachting World, Skip has curated, edited and updated his original missives alongside brand new material to make a collection that is both thought-provokingly bold and invaluably practical. Skip is an ardent proponent of self-reliance, and his hard-won advice will challenge you to improve your seamanship, focusing on skill, experience and problem-solving knowledge. While covering lots of traditional skills, such as celestial navigation, anchoring and docking, Skip also looks to the future, tackling innovative technologies that can make life afloat easier. Skip has a particular interest in helping new and younger sailors heed the clarion call of adventure he truly believes the ocean provides, and this interest shines through in his thoughtful guidance. Steeped in personal experience, but designed to be as inspirational as it is practical, Skip Novak on Sailing will help you become a better sailor, no matter your level of experience.

Synopsis Old Bear and His Cub by : Olivier Dunrea
From the creator of the Gossie and Gertie books comes a playful and charming twist on the relationship between children and the adults who care for them. Old Bear loves Little Cub with all his heart. He makes sure that Little Cub eats all his porridge, takes a nap during their snowy walk, and wraps his red scarf tightly around his ears. Little Cub doesn't want to be told what to do, but he always listens to Old Bear because he knows that Old Bear loves him so. But when Old Bear catches a cold, it's Little Cub who knows just what to do to make Old Bear feel better. This winning story shows just how much Old Bears and Little Cubs love one another--with all their hearts.
