Synopsis Lotus and Feather by : Ji-li Jiang

A winter illness left Lotus, a little girl, without a voice and without friends. A hunter's bullet left Feather, a crane, injured and unable to fly. As Lotus nurses Feather back to health, their bond grows. Soon Feather is following Lotus everywhere, even to school! The bird dances to the girl's reed whistle, much to the delight of the other children. One day, when the village floods, Feather helps raise the alarm as Lotus and her grandfather urge their neighbors to get to high ground. Feather is a true friend to Lotus, but the time comes when Lotus must be a true friend to him--by encouraging him to migrate with the rest of the cranes. The next spring, Feather miraculously returns, and that's not all . . . he has brought new life to the nearby lake. Inspired by the true story of a crane that rescued a Chinese village, and graced with sensitive watercolor illustrations, this lovely book about respecting nature offers deep emotion and delightful surprises.

Synopsis 5 by : Wayne Whitaker

Evangelism is a word that strikes fear in the hearts of even the most faithful Christians. Though believers realize their responsibility to connect others to Christ, many feel intimidated by the task. A plethora of programs and processes have been developed to aid believers in evangelism; however, these can often feel impersonal, inauthentic, or awkward. In frustration, many believers have given up hope of ever feeling adequate to share their faith with others. What if evangelism was not meant to be a process? What if it was never intended to be boiled down to step-by-step programs or processes? What if introducing others to Jesus is actually as easy as sharing life with others and having a few intentional conversations? Through this book, readers will learn an approach to evangelism that leverages relationality while minimizing much of the anxiety that accompanies sharing ones faith. Rather than a new approach, this simple, straight-forward perspective is a return to the evangelism modeled by the first believers. There are no flowcharts, presentations, or acronyms. All that is required is a reliance on the Holy Spirit, Gods Word, and a desire to cultivate and build intentional relationships for the sake of the gospel. The ultimate goal is to see every believer equipped, encouraged, and empowered to do his part to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ.

Synopsis The Rescue by : David J. Billeiter

On May 4, 2001, I sensed God telling me that I would catch the IH-10 Predator the following day. After receiving this prompting from the Holy Spirit, I began making preparations. God had spoken, and now it was time for action. It is not enough to just hear God speak; we must then follow through acting on his word. "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." (James 1:22, NIV) Having access to the Internet provided me with a lot of valuable information about the recent abduction of Leah Henry. On the evening of May 4, 2001, after working my patrol shift, I sat down at my home computer and gathered as much information as possible about the kidnapping. I found a composite drawing of the suspect, a description of the vehicle, and a possible license plate number. According to the latest news releases, authorities were looking for the suspect in the Seguin, Texas, area. Texas law enforcement was being assisted by the FBI and was frantically searching for the latest victim of the IH-10 Predator. I was several hundred miles from the search area, but I firmly believed I had heard from God. I had made the necessary preparations, and as I left for work the following morning, I told my wife that I was going to get the Predator that very day.
