Synopsis Differential EquationsCBCS Semester II Eastern India Universities by : H K Dass, Dr. Rama Verma & Er. Rajnish Verma
Differential Equations (CBCS) is designed as per the UGC Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) curriculum to meet the requirements of undergraduate students of mathematics and aptly covers Differential Equations and Mathematical Models. Major topics such as Cauchy-Euler, Total and Linear Partial Differential Equations of First Order (Lagrange-Charpit Method) have been dealt with deftly to provide a further insight in the subject. Written in a lucid and concise manner, the textbook has an adept balance between theory with practice.

Synopsis Encyclopaedia of Mathematics by : Michiel Hazewinkel
This ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF MATHEMATICS aims to be a reference work for all parts of mathe matics. It is a translation with updates and editorial comments of the Soviet Mathematical Encyclopaedia published by 'Soviet Encyclopaedia Publishing House' in five volumes in 1977-1985. The annotated translation consists of ten volumes including a special index volume. There are three kinds of articles in this ENCYCLOPAEDIA. First of all there are survey-type articles dealing with the various main directions in mathematics (where a rather fine subdivi sion has been used). The main requirement for these articles has been that they should give a reasonably complete up-to-date account of the current state of affairs in these areas and that they should be maximally accessible. On the whole, these articles should be understandable to mathematics students in their first specialization years, to graduates from other mathematical areas and, depending on the specific subject, to specialists in other domains of science, en gineers and teachers of mathematics. These articles treat their material at a fairly general level and aim to give an idea of the kind of problems, techniques and concepts involved in the area in question. They also contain background and motivation rather than precise statements of precise theorems with detailed definitions and technical details on how to carry out proofs and constructions. The second kind of article, of medium length, contains more detailed concrete problems, results and techniques.

Synopsis Stability Theory of Differential Equations by : Richard Bellman
Suitable for advanced undergraduates and graduate students, this was the first English-language text to offer detailed coverage of boundedness, stability, and asymptotic behavior of linear and nonlinear differential equations. It remains a classic guide, featuring material from original research papers, including the author's own studies. The linear equation with constant and almost-constant coefficients receives in-depth attention that includes aspects of matrix theory. No previous acquaintance with the theory is necessary, since author Richard Bellman derives the results in matrix theory from the beginning. In regard to the stability of nonlinear systems, results of the linear theory are used to drive the results of Poincaré and Liapounoff. Professor Bellman then surveys important results concerning the boundedness, stability, and asymptotic behavior of second-order linear differential equations. The final chapters explore significant nonlinear differential equations whose solutions may be completely described in terms of asymptotic behavior. Only real solutions of real equations are considered, and the treatment emphasizes the behavior of these solutions as the independent variable increases without limit.

Synopsis Ordinary Differential Equations by : D. Somasundaram
Though ordinary differential equations is taught as a core course to students in mathematics and applied mathematics, detailed coverage of the topics with sufficient examples is unique. Written by a mathematics professor and intended as a textbook for third- and fourth-year undergraduates, the five chapters of this publication give a precise account of higher order differential equations, power series solutions, special functions, existence and uniqueness of solutions, and systems of linear equations. Relevant motivation for different concepts in each chapter and discussion of theory and problems-without the omission of steps-sets Ordinary Differential Equations: A First Course apart from other texts on ODEs. Full of distinguishing examples and containing exercises at the end of each chapter, this lucid course book will promote self-study among students.
