Synopsis Poems in the Keys of Life by : Kerry Doc Pardue

I have been many things over the past 57 years of my life. I have been a brother, son, friend, husband, father, soldier, medic, police officer, detective, letter carrier, college recruiter, grandfather, and now, poet. These poems are a reflective journey to find healing after the war in Vietnam. Thirty-five years ago I was a combat medic. When I came home, I was determined to put Vietnam behind me. Somehow, deep within my heart, soul, and spirit, Vietnam was a part of who and what I became. Finally, my journey to healing began, and these poems are the result of that journey, 35 years later. They will make you cry, laugh, and appreciate friendships. They are my road map to a place I call home. I only hope that other soldiers, medics, nurses, and doctors will be able to find a way to their home. So grab a beverage and curl up and join with me on the journey together as we find peace, hope, friendships, love and yes, even healing.

Synopsis Living Life: Poems and Reflections by : Robin Hosking

All life is precious, no matter what the reasoning; it should never be easy to harm another life. There is a difference between wishing harm on someone and causing harm to them. In life we are all uniquely valuable and to be robbed of that uniqueness is unacceptable. We all live in this world and we need to be more amicable to our fellow man. This world is not an easy place; the hardest thing for us to do is live here. Love must start somewhere and that is with us. Robin wants to express thoughts of love to inspire others. This is the mission of Robin Hosking’s poetry. If we love, we live. If we stop loving or turn away from the love offered to us, we die. Mother Earth I love you and provide for you with all that I have I nourish you with the food from my ground I hydrate you with my water From all of my lovely plants and trees, you are able to breathe I love it when you come out to visit with me and admire my many scenes When you swim in my lakes and streams, I really enjoy your company, But you are mistreating me….

Synopsis Ten Poems to Change Your Life by : Roger Housden

Great poetry calls into question everything. It dares us to break free from the safe strategies of the cautious mind. It opens us to pain and joy and delight. It amazes, startles, pierces, and transforms us. It can lead to communion and grace. Through the voices of ten inspiring poets and his own reflections, the author of Sacred America shows how poetry illuminates the eternal feelings and desires that stir the human heart and soul. These poems explore such universal themes as the awakening of wonder, the longing for love, the wisdom of dreams, and the courage required to live an authentic life. In thoughtful commentary on each work, Housden offers glimpses into his personal spiritual journey and invites readers to contemplate the significance of the poet's message in their own lives. In Ten Poems to Change Your Life, Roger Housden shows how these astonishing poems can inspire you to live what you always knew in your bones but never had the words for. Synopsis Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle by : Stephen Dunning

Here are modern poems chosen for their individual excellence and their special appeal to young people. Exciting photographs accent the contemporary tone of the collection. From lighthearted Phyllis Mc-Ginley to pessimistic Ezra Pound; from the lyricism of Edna St. Vincent Millay to the vigor of Lawrence Ferlinghette; from Carl Sandburg on loneliness to Paul Dehn on the bomb -- such is the range. The little known or unknown poet and the widely recognized appear side by siide. Whatever the subject matter -- pheasant or flying saucer; lapping lake water or sonic boom; a deer hunt, a basketball, or a bud -- it is all poetry reflecting today's images and today's moods. The editors spent several years bringing together 1200 poems they considered fine enough to include, then slowly and carefully sifted out of 114 which appear in the book. Readers of Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle . . . and Other Modern Verse may well be tempted by Eve Merriam's suggestion in "How to Eat a Poem" center Don't be polite Bite in. Pick it up with your fingers and lick The juice that may run down your chin. It is ready and ripe now, whenever you are.
