Synopsis College Physics by : Michael Tammaro
Tammaro's College Physics, First Edition will convert more students from passive to active learners through a unique presentation of material built from the ground up in a digital environment. When students become "active" learners, they study "smarter" by spending time on content that will help them improve their understanding of key concepts (NOT skipping straight to the problems to find out what they don't know). College Physics, First Edition utilizes an assignable, module structure with frequent assessment check points at various difficulty levels to ensure maximum points of student engagement and retention.

Synopsis Interactive Lecture Demonstrations by : David R. Sokoloff
Interactive Lecture Demonstrations (ILDs) are designed to enhance conceptual learning in physics lectures through active engagement of students in the learning process. Students observe real physics demonstrations, make predictions about the outcomes on a prediction sheet, and collaborate with fellow students by discussing their predictions in small groups. Students then examine the results of the live demonstration (often displayed as real-time graphs using computer data acquisition tools), compare these results with their predictions, and attempt to explain the observed phenomena. ILDs are available for all of the major topics in the introductory physics course and can be used within the traditional structure of an introductory physics course. All of the printed materials needed to implement them are included in this book.

Synopsis The Art of Experimental Physics by : Daryl W. Preston
Fills the need for an experimental physics text. There are three main sections of the text. The first is an introduction that offers valuable insights into the importance of the human element in physics and traces the course of its historical development. This section also explains the objectives of the physics laboratory and the skills you must master to maintain a ``Notebook'' and analyze data, and presents a general discussion of spectroscopy experiments. The second section discusses the unique and valuable role of the computer in the laboratory and explains how to use it; software is included with the text. The final section contains over twenty experiments, providing students with a broad introduction into the use of a variety of instruments for carrying out many different measurements.

Synopsis Extreme Weather and Climate by : C. Donald Ahrens
Weather can be enjoyable, be merely tolerated or even change a good day to a bad one. On some occasions, it can become extreme and dramatically impact your life. Written in a friendly, easy-to-understand style, Ahrens/Samson/Reed's EXTREME WEATHER AND CLIMATE, 2nd Edition clearly explains the science of how hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning, floods and extreme temperatures can occur, how they can sometimes be life-changing and how they may be impacted by global climate change. Vividly illustrated, this text will give you a new appreciation for the power of nature.

Synopsis Exploring Creation with Physical Science by : Jay L. Wile
This should be the last course a student takes before high school biology. Typically, we recommend that the student take this course during the same year that he or she is taking prealgebra. Exploring Creation With Physical Science provides a detailed introduction to the physical environment and some of the basic laws that make it work. The fairly broad scope of the book provides the student with a good understanding of the earth's atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere. It also covers details on weather, motion, Newton's Laws, gravity, the solar system, atomic structure, radiation, nuclear reactions, stars, and galaxies. The second edition of our physical science course has several features that enhance the value of the course: * There is more color in this edition as compared to the previous edition, and many of the drawings that are in the first edition have been replaced by higher-quality drawings. * There are more experiments in this edition than there were in the previous one. In addition, some of the experiments that were in the previous edition have been changed to make them even more interesting and easy to perform. * Advanced students who have the time and the ability for additional learning are directed to online resources that give them access to advanced subject matter. * To aid the student in reviewing the course as a whole, there is an appendix that contains questions which cover the entire course. The solutions and tests manual has the answers to those questions. Because of the differences between the first and second editions, students in a group setting cannot use both. They must all have the same edition. A further description of the changes made to our second edition courses can be found in the sidebar on page 32.
