Synopsis INS/NFU Firing Range Design Standard by : United States. Immigration and Naturalization Service. National Firearms Unit

The INS/NFU Firing Range Design Standard (hereinafter referred to as the Firing Range Standard or the Standard) contains planning plus design criteria for indoor and outdoor firing range facilities. This document is intended to supplement the U.S. Border Patrol Facilities Design Guide in providing information about the construction of firing range facilities. The Standard shall also serve as a baseline for evaluating environmental, occupational safety, health, and training issues at existing firing range facilities. The intended audience of the Standard includes all individuals involved in the planning and design of firing range facilities. These individuals include architects and engineers, INS staff located at INS Headquarters, Regional and Administrative Centers, and Sector plus District Headquarters; and other federal agencies involved in providing space and facilities to the Border Patrol (to include the GSA and Corps of Engineers).

Synopsis Gravel Roads by : Ken Skorseth

The purpose of this manual is to provide clear and helpful information for maintaining gravel roads. Very little technical help is available to small agencies that are responsible for managing these roads. Gravel road maintenance has traditionally been "more of an art than a science" and very few formal standards exist. This manual contains guidelines to help answer the questions that arise concerning gravel road maintenance such as: What is enough surface crown? What is too much? What causes corrugation? The information is as nontechnical as possible without sacrificing clear guidelines and instructions on how to do the job right.
