Synopsis Proud Man by : Murray Constantine

Originally published in England in 1934, this searing, still timely novel offers and incisive critique of the sexual politics and militarism of England, and the West as a whole. Proud Man is told from the perspective of a "Genuine Person" who has been thrown back in time thousands of years from a peaceful future society. The Genuine Person comes from a people that are androgynous, self-fertilizing, and vegetarian; they live without a national government and artificial social divisions of gender and class. Taking on first female, then male form, the "Genuine Person" confronts the deeply troubled reality of England in the 1930s, still battered after one World War and on the road to another.

Synopsis Rules for Our Walking With God by : Jeremiah Burroughs

The bible is filled with a theology of walking. This supernatural, and eminently important topic, is the substance of this discourse by master-exegete and preacher Jeremiah Burroughs (1599-1646). This work is laid out in a series of “rules” which demonstrate to the Christian what one looks like who in fact walks with God. Burroughs’ main text is, “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” (Gen. 5:24). His main doctrine from this text is that it is the great excellency and commendation of a godly man to walk with God. Or, that it is the highest testimony that can be given that a man walks with God. He covers how a person is brought to walk with God shown in six particulars. Then he defines, specifically, what it means to walk with God, and their extended excellencies, along with exhortations to both Christians and unbelievers as to their interest in walking with God. Then, he provides ten ways that show people in the church, and even people in the world, that a man is walking with God, or not. Lastly, he demonstrates biblical “rules” toward walking with God in the right manner. The last chapter is actually an extra-added section that Burroughs decided he could not write this work without. That chapter is worth its weight in gold, and alone is worth the time of reading this volume. It houses the objection concerning the manner in which God sometimes may hide his face from his people for their good; though, at the time, it surely doesn’t feel as though desertion is a good thing. Burroughs covers being self-deceived in this, and answers various particulars concerning how to rightly judge whether one is actually walking with God in the right way, whether one is deserted by God, and whether such a desertion warrants repentance or just right thinking. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Synopsis John Terry - Captain, Leader, Champion by : Ollie Derbyshire

John Terry, soccer legend and Chelsea hero, graduated from Chelsea youth academy to become an international star. His imposing strength, natural skill, and bulldog spirit have made him the backbone of both Chelsea and England's staunch defenses. Born in London, and raised through the Chelsea youth teams, Terry's extraordinary talent soon had him replacing World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf to become a first team favorite amongst the Stamford Bridge faithful. But Terry's progress has not all been plain sailing. In 2002, when he was on the verge of realizing his dream of playing for England after some outstanding displays in the under-21 team, he was involved in an incident outside a nightclub. With his career in the balance, Terry battled back and, having been cleared of any charges, he became stronger than ever before. For years he was an indomitable force in the national side before retiring in 2012, having won 78 caps and appearing in two separate World Cups. He was even presented with the ultimate English honor when, in 2010, he captained his country during their World Cup campaign. Truly though, Terry is Chelsea through and through. Handed the captain's armband under Jose Mourinho's inspirational regime, backed by Roman Abramovich's formidable buying power, Terry is proof that some qualities simply can't be bought. His immense leadership skills have earned him the respect of his fellow pros and fans alike. With five FA Cups, four Premier Leagues including an incredible 2014/15 campaign, and even a Champions League medal hanging in his trophy cabinet, John Terry must go down as one of the greatest Englishmen to ever play the game.
