This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition, CIARP 2003, held in Havana, Cuba, in November 2003. The 82 revised full papers presented together with two invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 140 submissions. All current issues in pattern recognition, image processing, and computer vision are addressed as well as applications in domains like robotics, health, entertainment, space exploration, telecommunications, speech processing, data analysis, document recognition, etc.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 20th Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition, CIARP 2015, held in Montevideo, Uruguay, in November 2015. The 95 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 185 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on applications on pattern recognition; biometrics; computer vision; gesture recognition; image classification and retrieval; image coding, processing and analysis; segmentation, analysis of shape and texture; signals analysis and processing; theory of pattern recognition; video analysis, segmentation and tracking.

First of all, we want to congratulate two new research communities from M- ico and Brazil that have recently joined the Iberoamerican community and the International Association for Pattern Recognition. We believe that the series of congresses that started as the “Taller Iberoamericano de Reconocimiento de Patrones (TIARP)”, and later became the “Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition (CIARP)”, has contributed to these groupconsolidatione?orts. We hope that in the near future all the Iberoamerican countries will have their own groups and associations to promote our areas of interest; and that these congresses will serve as the forum for scienti?c research exchange, sharing of - pertise and new knowledge, and establishing contacts that improve cooperation between research groups in pattern recognition and related areas. CIARP 2004 (9th Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition) was the ninthinaseriesofpioneeringcongressesonpatternrecognitionintheIberoam- ican community. As in the previous year, CIARP 2004 also included worldwide participation. It took place in Puebla, Mexico. The aim of the congress was to promote and disseminate ongoing research and mathematical methods for pattern recognition, image analysis, and applications in such diverse areas as computer vision, robotics, industry, health, entertainment, space exploration, telecommunications, data mining, document analysis,and natural languagep- cessing and recognition, to name a few.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 13th Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition, CIARP 2008, held in Havana, Cuba, in September 2008. The 93 revised full papers presented together with 3 keynote articles were carefully reviewed and selected from 182 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on signal analysis for characterization and filtering, analysis of shape and texture, analysis of speech and language, data mining, clustering of images and documents, statistical pattern recognition, classification and description of objects, classification and edition, geometric image analysis, neural networks, computer vision, image coding, associative memories and neural networks, interpolation and video tracking, images analysis, music and speech analysis, as well as classifier combination and document filtering.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 14th Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition, CIARP 2009, held in Guadalajara, Mexico, in November 2009. The 64 revised full papers presented together with 44 posters were carefully reviewed and selected from 187 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on image coding, processing and analysis; segmentation, analysis of shape and texture; geometric image processing and analysis; analysis of signal, speech and language; document processing and recognition; feature extraction, clustering and classification; statistical pattern recognition; neural networks for pattern recognition; computer vision; video segmentation and tracking; robot vision; intelligent remote sensing, imagery research and discovery techniques; intelligent computing for remote sensing imagery; as well as intelligent fusion and classification techniques.

Pattern recognition is a central topic in contemporary computer sciences, with continuously evolving topics, challenges, and methods, including machine learning, content-based image retrieval, and model- and knowledge-based - proaches, just to name a few. The Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recog- tion (CIARP) has become established as a high-quality conference, highlighting the recent evolution of the domain. These proceedings include all papers presented during the 15th edition of this conference, held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in November 2010. As was the case for previous conferences, CIARP 2010 attracted parti- pants from around the world with the aim of promoting and disseminating - going research on mathematical methods and computing techniques for pattern recognition, computer vision, image analysis, and speech recognition, as well as their applications in such diverse areas as robotics, health, entertainment, space exploration, telecommunications, data mining, document analysis, and natural language processing and recognition, to name only a few of them. Moreover, it provided a forum for scienti?c research, experience exchange, sharing new kno- edge and increasing cooperation between research groups in pattern recognition and related areas. It is important to underline that these conferences have contributed sign- icantly to the growth of national associations for pattern recognition in the Iberoamerican region, all of them as members of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR).

This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of the 21st Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition, CIARP 2016, held in Lima, Peru, in November 2016. The 69 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 131 submissions. The papers feature research results in the areas of pattern recognition, biometrics, image processing, computer vision, speech recognition, and remote sensing. They constitute theoretical as well as applied contributions in many fields related to the main topics of the conference.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition, CIARP 2007, held in Valparaiso, Chile, November 13-16, 2007. The 97 revised full papers presented together with four keynote articles were carefully reviewed and selected from 200 submissions. The papers cover ongoing research and mathematical methods for pattern recognition, image analysis, and applications in areas such as computer vision, robotics, industry and health.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition, IWAIPR 2021, held in Havana, Cuba, in October 2021. The 42 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 73 submissions. The papers promote and disseminate ongoing research on mathematical methods and computing techniques for artificial intelligence and pattern recognition, in particular in bioinformatics, cognitive and humanoid vision, computer vision, image analysis and intelligent data analysis.
