Synopsis OMEGA MONITOR STATION AT LASHAM, ENGLAND. by : L. A. Fletcher
NRL has recently established an Omega monitor at the RAE facilities at Lasham, England, to obtain diurnal phase shift and phase stability data on Omega signals from transmitters located in Forestport, New York; Haiku, Hawaii; and Summit, Canal Zone. The monitor utilizes a type AN/WRN-2(XN-1) Omega Navigation Receiver and associated support equipment and is operated by the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Ministry of Aviation, Great Britain. The data obtained from this monitor will be used in the evaluation of the Omega Navigation System. Preliminary data from the monitor show that signal strengths from the transmitters are sufficient for proper operation of the monitor at Lasham. (Author).

Synopsis Colours in the Sky by : Graham M. Simons
It's impossible to tell the story of Court Line without telling that of Autair, founded by helicopter pioneer William 'Bill' Armstrong. Autair itself was an offshoot of his global helicopter operation, but Bill also had his finger in many aviation 'pies' including a multitude of operations in Africa, where so many aircraft and airlines were created, bought and sold with such prolificacy that even he could not remember the names and how many there were! There is also the background to Court Line's shipping concerns and the Caribbean operations of the hotel chains and regional airline Leeward Islands Air Transport which Court owned for a while.Covered in detail is the introduction, demonstration and use of the Lockheed TriStar wide-bodied airliner, the first of the type used in the Inclusive Tour business.Court Line Aviation and Tom Gullick's Clarksons Holidays brought to the forefront the concept of value-for-money Inclusive Tour holidays following the 'vertical integration' business model whereby owning and controlling each step of the holiday allowed the company to make a small profit at every stage. The orange, pink, turquoise and yellow jets brought flashes of color to dreary British airports, and quickly streamed a multi-colored rainbow across European skies to Mediterranean destinations and even further afield. Truly they did indeed put colors in the Sky!

Synopsis Van Gogh and the Seasons by : Sjraar van Heugten
A new look at the ways van Gogh represented the seasons and the natural world throughout his career The changing seasons captivated Vincent van Gogh (1853–90), who saw in their unending cycle the majesty of nature and the existence of a higher force. Van Gogh and the Seasons is the first book to explore this central aspect of van Gogh's life and work. Van Gogh often linked the seasons to rural life and labor as men and women worked the land throughout the year. From his depictions of peasants and sowers to winter gardens, riverbanks, orchards, and harvests, he painted scenes that richly evoke the sensory pleasures and deprivations particular to each season. This stunning book brings to life the locales that defined his tumultuous career, from Arles, where he experienced his most crucial period of creativity, to Auvers-sur-Oise, where he committed suicide. It looks at van Gogh's interpretation of nature, the religious implications of the seasons in his time, and how his art was perceived against the backdrop of various symbolist factions, antimaterialist debates, and esoteric beliefs in fin de siècle Paris. The book also features revealing extracts from the artist's correspondence and artworks from his own collection that provide essential context to the themes in his work. Breathtakingly illustrated and featuring informative essays by Sjraar van Heugten, Joan Greer, and Ted Gott, Van Gogh and the Seasons shines new light on the extraordinary creative vision of one of the world's most beloved artists.
