Synopsis My Story, My Journey by : Paul Lippok

I was born in 1926 in a town in Silesia, Germanys south eastern Province bordering Poland to the east and Czechoslovakia to the south. That is how it was for 2000 years until 1945 when Hitlers war ended, and our Heimat Schlesien no longer existed. The peace treaty demanded that Silesia be annexed to Poland meaning the eviction of our people. Six months after my 17th birthday, shortly before Christmas 1943, I was called up to military service and after my training sent to Italy, where five months later, on Sunday 4th June 1944 I was captured by the U.S. Army just outside Rome. They brought us to Norfolk Virginia from where a train journey took us to a POW camp in Oklahoma, moving soon to Fort Bliss, El Paso. In autumn 1945 fifty POWs travelled by bus to the Napa Valley to pick tomatoes, prunes, and work in the vineyards, and after New Year 1946 south to pick cotton. In early March 1946 we received black-dyed U.S. Army uniforms, boarded a troop ship in Oakland and were sent back to Europe via the Panama Canal, to arrive three weeks later in Liverpool, UK. From there we travelled by train to the north of Scotland where now over sixty years later, I continue to live. My book will tell my journey.

Synopsis My Journey, My Life by : Aniceto Enriquez

For Aniceto Enriquez, immigrating to the United States from Guatemala as an illegal alien was one of the riskiest adventures he could undertake. In My Journey, My Life, Enriquez tells the story of leaving his hometown of Livingston, Guatemala, to escape political unrest in the country. Though the journey was fraught with danger and sacrifice, Enriquez and his sister, Lency, left their seaside home in May of 1982 to seek a better life in the United States. From his first job as a dishwasher at a diner in Manhattan and promotion to cook, to learning the English language; meeting his wife, Linda; and earning college degrees, Enriquez provides a meaningful narrative about how faith, self-confidence, and hard work play a role in leading a successful and enriching life. Enriquez tells his story through the historical lens of his heritage. With a unique perspective, My Journey, My Life teaches about Guatemala, the Garifuna people and their culture, and Central America at large. When Enriquez and his sister raced through the tunnel to El Paso, Texas, they had only their dreams to guide them. Though the journey was full of turmoil and uncertainty, Enriquez found light in education, love, and family.

Synopsis My Journey by : Linda Walker

Throughout history, God has used dreams, visions and the prophetic word to instruct and encourage His people. He still uses these methods to communicate with us today--all we have to do is listen. My Journey is a collection of revelations the Lord has given Linda Walker over the years. Some of these prophetic words offered direction or warning, while others were simply messages of love from the heavenly Father to His beloved child. Although Linda did not immediately understand some of these messages, looking back she can clearly see how God used each word to keep her on the right path. God speaks to each of us in unique ways. We must learn to listen for His voice. My Journey will bless and encourage you to seek God with your whole heart, and get to know Him more intimately each day. God is speaking. Are you listening?

This rich and multifaceted collection is Grace Paley's vivid record of her life. As close to an autobiography as anything we are likely to have from this quintessentially American writer, Just As I Thought gives us a chance to see Paley not only as a writer and "troublemaker" but also as a daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Through her descriptions of her childhood in the Bronx and her experiences as an antiwar activist to her lectures on writing and her recollections of other writers, these pieces are always alive with Paley's inimitable voice, humor, and wisdom.
