The preparation of this monograph was authorized by the Director of the Cen sus on October 17, 1914, in compliance with the sug gestion of a number of the foremost students of the cancer problem and at the request of the American Society for the Control of Cancer. The request of this society was made in pursuance of the following reso tion, adopted at a meeting of the executive committee on February 7, 1914.
