Synopsis Luke's Log by : K. D. Luke

This fascinating autobiography recounts the story of the author's long and distinguished life, from his birth in south-east London in 1912 through to a colourful career in the diplomatic service and beyond. Showing considerable promise as a student, K. D. Luke thrived within the educational system and went on to attend Oxford University from 1933 to 1935. An aptitude for languages and a strong desire to travel led to his enrolment with the Malay Education Service; so it was that he found himself teaching at the Malay College at Kuala Kangsar. By 1941, however, World War II caught up with Malaya; the author, along with all other expatriates still resident in the region, was taken as a prisoner of war by the Japanese and forced to work on the infamous Thai-Burma Railway. Reunited with his wartime bride, Phyllis, when hostilities ceased, Kenneth's career blossomed, with headships of two Malay schools followed by various appointments, working for the British Government and later the UN, utilizing his expertise in education all over the world, including the USA, Africa, Laos, Israel and many other areas. The overwhelming impression given in this book is that of the author's humanity in the face of many challenging situations. In particular, his description of his years as a prisoner of war is deeply moving, though never melodramatic. Equally interesting are the insights we are given into the world of international diplomacy, from the personal relationships built up and treasured to the elegant cocktail parties.

Synopsis Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Paul by : David Oliver Smith

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Paul takes you on a journey through the Synoptic Gospels and the Epistles providing a new solution to a literary puzzle that has vexed biblical scholars for over two-hundred years--The Synoptic Problem. When the Synoptic evangelists, Matthew, Mark, and Luke sat down to write their gospels did they have copies of some of the epistles? This book examines the Synoptic Gospels, Hebrews, and Paul's Epistles finding many intriguing similarities, suggesting that the Synoptic evangelists used extensive parts of the epistles to weave into their stories of the ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. David Oliver Smith then compares these epistle-based passages to the theoretical lost gospel Q and finds that a large portion of what many New Testament scholars consider to be contained in Q may have its inspiration in the Epistles.

Synopsis Luke by : Sharon H. Ringe

The Gospel of Luke is arguably the most recognizable and beloved of the gospel writings. It contains familiar stories such as the birth of Christ, and the parables of the good Samaritan and the prodigal son. The general familiarity with Luke, however, may impede a true sense of what this Gospel is about as a whole. Ringe offers readers a thorough introduction to and a critical reading of Luke.

Synopsis Christ Power and Earth Wisdom by : Marko Pogačnik

‘Human evolution has now arrived at a decisive crossroads. The future of humankind on Earth depends on whether people recognize their determining role in the evolution of the consciousness of Earth.’ – Marko Pogačnik Humanity today faces a unique task: to overcome the thousand-year-old division between heaven and earth, spirit and matter. This, says Marko Pogačnik, is our present-day challenge. But we have an important ally in this work in the being of Jesus, also known as Christ, whose teachings are intended to help us at this critical time of human development. Historically, however, Jesus’ words of wisdom were harnessed to the construction of an earthly religion, and much of their deeper meaning was lost in the process. Christ Power and Earth Wisdom is the story of the author’s discovery of a ‘Fifth Gospel’, woven invisibly into the four canonical Gospels. It teaches humanity how to live positively in the third millennium. Bringing together knowledge of elemental beings, Earth science and Christ, the author has translated over one hundred of Jesus’ sayings into a language that the modern mind can understand. He identifies blockages in the Biblical gospels that have prevented the Spirit of Christ from manifesting in the past era. But the time is now ripe for understanding the multilayered reality of these teachings. Based on methods of investigation and perception that Pogačnik has developed over many decades of work in healing the various dimensions of Earth’s landscape and nature, he deciphers the hidden, holistic messages in Christ’s teachings, dismantling the obstacles that have arisen through outdated interpretations. The text is complemented with Pogacnik’s energetically-charged drawings, forming a feeling counterpart to the thought flow of the book. A new Postscript offers an important update relating to methods of gaining a broader, spiritual perception of reality in the present.
