Synopsis Lily and the Octopus by : Steven Rowley
‘Intelligently written, finely observed and surprisingly moving, this is a book you’ll find hard to put down’ Graeme Simsion, author of The Rosie Project Companions come in all shapes and sizes. Companionship lasts forever. Lily and the Octopus is a novel about finding that special someone to share your life with. For Ted Flask, that someone is Lily, and she happens to be a dog. This novel reminds us how to love fiercely, how difficult it can be to let go and how the fight for those we love is the greatest fight of all. Reminiscent of The Life of Pi and The Art of Racing in the Rain, with spins into magic realism and beautifully evoked universal truths of love, loyalty and loss, a hilariously sardonic and not altogether reliable narrator, and one unforgettable hound who simple wisdom will break your heart and put it back together again, Lily and the Octopus captures the search for meaning in death and introduces a dazzling new voice in fiction.

Synopsis The Little Dog Laughed by : Joseph Hansen
While investigating a suicide, Dave Brandstetter discovers a dead reporter's final scoop. Journalist Adam Streeter covered some of the most dangerous stories of the last quarter century, ranging from Cambodia to Siberia and anywhere troubled in between. Fearless, dashing, and more than a little resourceful, Streeter was renowned as much for his virtuosic writing as the shocking reality of what he uncovered along the way. Why would someone who lived so purposefully and with such demonstrable bravery turn a pistol on himself? Insurance investigator Dave Brandstetter has seen enough suicides to know this isn’t one. Suspecting treachery, he digs into Adam's last story — an unpublished investigation into the whereabouts of a vanished South American strongman, called El Carnicero, the Butcher — and finds that Adam's death shows every hallmark of his bloody style. Dave quickly realized that some very powerful people would like him to drop the case. Dave’s own lover, Cecil, would like to see him take it easy for once. But Cecil knows Brandstetter is not so unlike the man whose death he’s investigating. The truth, to someone like Brandstetter or Streeter, is worth the ultimate price. As he attempts to finish Adam’s story and get to the bottom of the journalist’s death, Dave will find more than a few people willing to make him pay it.

Synopsis The Little Dog's Big Adventure: A Story About Growth, Friendship and Hardship by : Jane Lauren
A long time ago in a small town, there was a little dog named Charlie. Charlie was a very curious pup, always wanting to learn more about the world. One day, Charlie decided to go on an adventure and explore this magical world. Charlie walked a long way and saw many amazing things like tall trees, beautiful flowers, and butterflies of all different colors. He was very excited, but when he looked back, he realized he was lost. Charlie started to feel scared and didn't know what to do. As he wandered, he saw a little bird. The bird asked if he needed help, and Charlie happily agreed. The bird told Charlie that she could help him find his way home. So, they began their adventure together. Charlie discovered many beautiful places and became good friends with the bird. Charlie felt hungry after a long walk, and the bird brought him some food and water, telling Charlie to be well-prepared next time when he went out. They walked for a long time and finally found the way home. Charlie thanked the bird for her help and was happy he had such a good friend. Charlie's big adventure taught him many things. He learned about the value of friendship and how to ask for help in difficult times. From then on, Charlie became a braver and smarter little dog. When Charlie returned home, his owner was surprised because Charlie had grown quite a bit. Charlie proudly told his owner about his adventure, and the owner was proud that his little dog had grown and had such an exciting experience. The story of Charlie's big adventure teaches us that even when we face difficulties, we can overcome them as long as we are brave, ask for help, and have good friends by our side. This story also reminds us that the most important things in life are not wealth or fame, but the people around us and our experiences.
