Synopsis Lesia's Dream by : Laura Langston

Fifteen-year-old Lesia can hardly bear it. She and her family must leave their beloved Baba in their Ukrainian hometown in order to flee to Canada. Dreaming of fields of wheat, wealth and security, Lesia looks forward to a life in Canada, free from poverty and rumours of war. But the 160 acres of hardscrabble prairie look nothing like the wheat fields of her dreams. And even though there is no fighting in her new country, the First World War follows them there.

Synopsis 2 Blessed 2 be Stressed: A Spiritual Guide for a Spiritual Journey by : Lesia R. Lankford

It was a mantra she would say to herself when she faced the hardships of life, and boy, did she face some hardships: "2 blessed 2 be stressed." Inspired years ago to write her book, author Lesia R. Lankford has now seen her dream, and mantra, come to life with her new book, "2 Blessed 2 Be Stressed: Spiritual Food for Your Spiritual Journey." Lesia, having experienced everything from financial struggle to divorce to raising her child as a single mom, wanted to inspire others to turn to God rather than those around them for comfort, wisdom, and the truth of what is ahead for the future. The chapter numbers represent symbolic meanings in Scripture, as the author shares parts of her life story and how God reminded her to not be stressed but instead focus on how she was blessed by Him. Whether it is lessening the effect haters have on you to remembering God in the storms of life to look forward to seeing Jesus face to face, "2 Blessed 2 Be Stressed" will ignite within you the desire to draw closer to God. As you go on your spiritual journey, may this spiritual food bring you awareness to live each day thankful for what the day brought rather than what it was missing.

Synopsis Nightmareland by : Lex Lonehood Nover

From a Coast to Coast AM insider, a mind-expanding exploration of sleep disorders and unusual dream states--the scientific explanations and the paranormal possibilities. The sleeping mind is a mysterious backdrop that science is just beginning to shed light on. It was only some sixty years ago that researchers discovered REM, the rapid-eye-movement cycle that's associated with dreams. In Nightmareland, Lex "Lonehood" Nover travels into the eerie borderlands where the unconscious, dreams, and strange entities intermingle under the cover of night, revealing wider and hidden aspects of ourselves, from the savage and frightening to the astounding and sublime. Encompassing accepted medical phenomena such as sleep paralysis, parasomnias, and Ambien "zombies," and the true-crime casebook of those who kill while sleepwalking, to supernatural elements such as the incubus, alien abduction, and psychic attacks, Nover brings readers on an extraordinary journey through history, folklore, and science, to help us understand what happens when we sleep.

Synopsis Next-Generation Memory and Ukrainian Canadian Children’s Historical Fiction by : Mateusz Świetlicki

This is the first book monograph devoted to Anglophone Ukrainian Canadian children’s historical fiction published between 1991 and 2021. It consists of five chapters offering cross-sectional and interdisciplinary readings of 41 books – novels, novellas, picturebooks, short stories, and a graphic novel. The first three chapters focus on texts about the complex process of becoming Ukrainian Canadian, showcasing the experiences of the first two waves of Ukrainian immigration to Canada, including encounters with Indigenous Peoples and the First World War Internment. The last two chapters are devoted to the significance of the cultural memory of the Holodomor, the Great Famine of 1932-1933, and the Second World War for Ukrainian Canadians. All the chapters demonstrate the entanglements of Ukrainian and Canadian history and point to the role Anglophone children’s literature can play in preventing the symbolical seeds of memory from withering. This volume argues that reading, imagining, and reimagining history can lead to the formation of beyond-textual next-generation memory. Such memory created through reading is multidimensional as it involves the interpretation of both the present and the past by an individual whose reality has been directly or indirectly shaped by the past over which they have no influence. Next-generation memory is of anticipatory character, which means that authors of historical fiction anticipate the readers – both present-day and future – not to have direct links to any witnesses of the events they discuss and to have little knowledge of the transcultural character of the Ukrainian Canadian diaspora.

A rich, compelling historical novel-and a mystery of royal intrigue. Half of Europe is certain he murdered his first wife, Lucrezia, the luminous child of the Medici. But no one dares accuse him, and no one has proof-least of all his second duchess, the far less beautiful but delightfully clever Barbara of Austria. At first determined to ignore the rumors about her new husband, Barbara embraces the pleasures of the Ferrarese court. Yet wherever she turns she hears whispers of the first duchess's wayward life and mysterious death. Barbara asks questions-a dangerous mistake for a duchess of Ferrara. Suddenly, to save her own life, Barbara has no choice but to risk the duke's terrifying displeasure and discover the truth of Lucrezia's death-or she will share her fate.
