Synopsis Industrial Electrochemistry by : D. Pletcher
The objective of this second edition remains the discussion of the many diverse roles of electrochemical technology in industry. Throughout the book, the intention is to emphasize that the applications, though extremely diverse, all are on the same principles of electrochemistry and electrochemical engineer based ing. Those familiar with the first edition will note a significant increase in the number of pages. The most obvious addition is the separate chapter on electrochemical sensors but, in fact, all chapters have been reviewed thoroughly and many have been altered substantially. These changes to the book partly reflect the different view of a second author as well as comments from students and friends. Also, they arise inevitably from the vitality and strength of electrochemical technology; in addition to important improvements in tech nology, new electrolytic processes and electrochemical devices continue to be reported. In the preface to the first edition it was stated: . . . the future for electrochemical technology is bright and there is a general expectation that new applications of electrochemistry will become economic as the world responds to the challenge of more expensive energy, of the need to develop new materials and to exploit different chemical feedstocks and of the necessity to protect the environment. The preparation of this second edition, seven years after these words were written, provided an occasion to review the progress of industrial electro chemistry.

Synopsis Electrochemical Engineering by : Thomas F. Fuller
A Comprehensive Reference for Electrochemical Engineering Theory and Application From chemical and electronics manufacturing, to hybrid vehicles, energy storage, and beyond, electrochemical engineering touches many industries—any many lives—every day. As energy conservation becomes of central importance, so too does the science that helps us reduce consumption, reduce waste, and lessen our impact on the planet. Electrochemical Engineering provides a reference for scientists and engineers working with electrochemical processes, and a rigorous, thorough text for graduate students and upper-division undergraduates. Merging theoretical concepts with widespread application, this book is designed to provide critical knowledge in a real-world context. Beginning with the fundamental principles underpinning the field, the discussion moves into industrial and manufacturing processes that blend central ideas to provide an advanced understanding while explaining observable results. Fully-worked illustrations simplify complex processes, and end-of chapter questions help reinforce essential knowledge. With in-depth coverage of both the practical and theoretical, this book is both a thorough introduction to and a useful reference for the field. Rigorous in depth, yet grounded in relevance, Electrochemical Engineering: Introduces basic principles from the standpoint of practical application Explores the kinetics of electrochemical reactions with discussion on thermodynamics, reaction fundamentals, and transport Covers battery and fuel cell characteristics, mechanisms, and system design Delves into the design and mechanics of hybrid and electric vehicles, including regenerative braking, start-stop hybrids, and fuel cell systems Examines electrodeposition, redox-flow batteries, electrolysis, regenerative fuel cells, semiconductors, and other applications of electrochemical engineering principles Overlapping chemical engineering, chemistry, material science, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering, electrochemical engineering covers a diverse array of phenomena explained by some of the important scientific discoveries of our time. Electrochemical Engineering provides the critical understanding required to work effectively with these processes as they become increasingly central to global sustainability.

Synopsis Electrochemistry Crash Course for Engineers by : Slobodan Petrovic
This book is a concise introductory guide to understanding the foundations of electrochemistry. By using simplified classroom-tested methods developed while teaching the subject to engineering students, the author explains in simple language an otherwise complex subject that can be difficult to master for most. It provides readers with an understanding of important electrochemical processes and practical industrial applications, such as electrolysis processes, metal electrowinning, corrosion and analytical applications, and galvanic cells such as batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors. This powerful tutorial is a great resource for students, engineers, technicians, and other busy professionals who need to quickly acquire a solid understanding of the science of electrochemistry.

Synopsis Electrode Processes and Electrochemical Engineering by : Fumio Hine
This book has been planned and written by Dr. Hine with his knowledge and experience in electrochemical science and engineering for over thirty years since he joined with me at Kyoto University in 1948. This book is unique and is useful for engineers as well as scientists who are going to work in any interdisciplinary field connected with elec trochemistry. Science is sure to clarify the truth of nature as well as bring prosperity and an improvement to the welfare of human beings. The origin of the word "science" is the same as of "conscience," which means the truth of our heart. When we consider a scientific and technological subject, first we classify it into the components and/or factors involved, and then we clarify them individually. Second, we combine them to grasp the whole meaning and feature of the subject under discussion. Computers may help us greatly, but how to establish the software that will be most desirable for our purposes is of great importance. We need to make these efforts ourselves, and not decorate with borrowed plumes. With this concept in mind, this book is attractive because the author describes the basic science in electrochemistry and practice, and discusses the electrochemical engineering applications as a combination of science and technology.

Synopsis Electrochemical Processes for Clean Technology by : Keith Scott
Electrochemical Processes for Clean Technology describes the technology and engineering of electrochemical systems that are relevant to clean technology, such as chemical synthesis, effluent treatment and recycling. It explains basic scientific and engineering principles, and describes relevant cell and reactor technology with examples. It emphasises the increasing importance of electrochemistry in the synthesis of organic and inorganic compounds for the bulk, fine chemical, pharmaceutical and electronic industries. It has full coverage of effluent treatment and recycling for heavy and precious metals, organic contaminants, inorganic aqueous and gaseous effluents, and includes important coverage of electrochemical membrane-based separations, and electrochemically enhanced processes such as ion exchange and ultrafiltration. Electrochemical Processes for Clean Technology focuses on the advantages of electrochemistry, supports the reader's understanding of the technology described, covers recent developments and current practices, and places the subject in the wider context of alternative technologies. It should be read by graduates and researchers in clean technology, organic synthesis, electrochemistry, chemical engineering and inorganic chemistry.

"This book introduces the main aspects of modern applied electrochemistry. Starting with the basics of thermodynamic background, structure of interfaces and selected techniques used in analytical and material chemistry, the authors address the principles of electrochemistry in material sience: corrosion, electrocatalysis, electrodeposition, energy storage and conversion. The application of nanostructured materials in these processes, as well as interfacing of electrochemistry with biology and medicine is discussed. The final part of the book is devoted to photoelectrochemistry and solar energy conversion in photoelectrochemical cells of various types. The goal of this book is to show that electrochemistry has many applications, not only for understanding of various phenomena in nowadays life but also in practical devices and can stimulate new science-enabled technologies, nourishing leaps from bench-top to large-scale industries, providing also means for protecting our environment"--Page 4 of cover.
