This report resulted from a survey of users and manufacturers of maraging steels, Government agencies, research institutions, and published literature. It presents the technical status of the 18-percent nickel maraging steels in detail and brings together a large body of knowledge with regard to the metallurgical and engineering aspects of maraging steels. Since such steels were first announced in 1959, they have become highly important in aerospace, defense, and industrial work. The requirements of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration have given impetus to their development, and research now underway is expected to result in further improvements and applicability. The NASA Office of Technology Utilization sponsored this report as part of its program to disseminate information on technological developments which appear to be useful for general industrial applications.

Derived from the online reference "Corrosion Handbook", this handbook brings together all the relevant information on corrosion protection and prevention for nickel-based materials, all in a convenient and easy-to-use format. As such, it provides scientists and engineers manufacturing and utilizing these materials with comprehensive information, including tabulated data and references, on their corrosion behavior when in contact with acids and hydroxides.

Corrosion Guide presents a list of corrosive agents and the trade names of materials, including metallic and non-metallic materials as well as alloys. The book provides guidance in using the tabulated information. This reference also lists relevant publications that deal with the properties of various materials. This new edition provides more data that are not included in the previous edition. The former edition fails to present enough information as the provided properties of the corrosive agents varies and other data are not available. The release aims to minimize missing information about the subject matter. This compilation of tabulated data provides description of each group of corrosive agents. Elements and compounds under each group are listed, along with their properties such as room temperature, corrosion rate, and composition. The list of trade names of materials also describes the composition of each material. The information contained in this book is intended to help practicing engineers deal with corrosion.

A comprehensive survey of the epidemiology of common environmental exposures, this volume covers diet, water, particulates in outdoor air, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, environmental tobacco smoke, radon in homes, electromagnetic fields, and lead. Design and analysis issues, risk assessment and meta-analysis, and future directions in environmental epidemiology are also discussed. All chapters provide a review of the relevant literature as well as an overview of important methodologic issues, particularly exposure assessment and statistical methods. Most of these exposures are widespread and low-level, and are thought to increase the risk of chronic diseases that have many causes. Even though the disease risks due to these exposures may be low, the public health burden may be significant because large numbers of people are exposed. Such exposures are inherently difficult to detect via observational epidemiology. This book clarifies the problems and suggests ways to move forward. It will be useful to students and practitioners of public health, environmental health, and epidemiology.
