Synopsis Pharmacology by : Joanne I. Moore
More than ten years ago, the faculty members of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine developed a review book of medical pharmacology in response to requests from our second year medical students who were preparing to sit for the Part I examination of the National Board of Medical Examiners. The students expressed a need for an organized approach to cope with the volume of basic science curricular material presented during the first two years. Therefore, our review book was not designed to provide a comprehensive text on pharmacology, but rather to provide the students with a significant core of information, as a refresher, after they had successfully completed a basic course in pharmacology. This book represents a major revision of our review of medical pharmacology. The book has been reorganized, updated and expanded to provide current information on major new drugs and information on older drug groups that typically are covered on licensure examinations. The book also has been expanded to include a large number of new questions for self-examination. The faculty have endeavored to retain a reasonably concise, relevant and readable review book that will provide the students with a thorough review of pharmacology. Students are advised to refer to comprehensive textbooks, as needed, to fill in any gaps in their knowledge which may be disclosed by the self-examinations.

Synopsis Mad Men by : Dyna Moe
MAD MEN: THE ILLUSTRATED WORLD is an engaging celebration of the life and times of the 'mad men' of Madison Avenue in the early 1960s. This book is by turns funny, kitschy, sophisticated and wry, and this full colour miscelleny is both a memento and a stand-alone salute to the time of slim suits, prosperity, cocktails, and the golden age of advertising. With chapters on the office, the home, fashion and beauty, mainstream and counterculture, travel and rainy day activities, this all-encompassing anthology is the only companion a fan will ever need. The only official MAD MEN publication, this tie-in to the wildly popular and cult television series captures the spirit of the era as it might be imagined on one of Sal Ramano's storyboards.

Synopsis Chromatopia by : David Coles
This origin story of history’s most vivid color pigments is perfect for artists, history buffs, science lovers, and design fanatics. Did you know that the Egyptians created the first synthetic color and used it to create the famous blue crown of Queen Nefertiti? Or that the noblest purple comes from a predatory sea snail? In the Roman Empire, hundreds of thousands of snails had to be sacrificed to produce a single ounce of dye. Throughout history, pigments have been made from deadly metals, poisonous minerals, urine, cow dung, and even crushed insects. From grinding down beetles and burning animal bones to alchemy and pure luck, Chromatopia reveals the origin stories behind over fifty of history’s most vivid color pigments. Featuring informative and detailed color histories, a section on working with monochromatic color, and “recipes” for paint-making, Chromatopia provides color enthusiasts with an eclectic story of how synthetic colors came to be. Red lead, for example, was invented by the ancient Greeks by roasting white lead, and it became the dominant red in medieval painting. Spanning from the ancient world to modern leaps in technology, and vibrantly illustrated throughout, this book will add a little chroma to anyone’s understanding of the history of colors.
