Synopsis Mole in a Black & White Hole by : Tereza Sediva
An imaginative, charming tale about searching for beauty and light in the world around us. When Mole looks around his underground home, all he sees is the black- and-white world of his cold, dark hole. Mole digs and digs, dreaming of finding something colorful at the end of one of his tunnels, but day after day, he is disappointed. One day, as Mole continues to search, he finds a pink radish poking through the top of his tunnel like a chandelier. Delighted with the knowledge that the world isn’t just black and white, he starts to talk to his chandelier about the world above. He learns that the world is full of colors! As Mole listens to his chandelier describe life aboveground, he imagines bright clothes, red roofs, vibrant green trees, pastel flowers, and the blush of the sun as it sinks through the sky. The next morning, Mole wakes to find his chandelier is gone, leaving a hole in its place. He is so upset at first that it takes him a moment to realize how bright his home has become. Searching for his chandelier, he crawls out of his black-and-white hole into the world above and discovers a place more colorful than he ever dreamed possible. Packed with vivid colors and striking illustrations, Mole in a Black-and-White Hole tells a charming tale about what awaits us when we seek out the light in the darkness.

Synopsis Miss Mole by : E.H. Young
'Young is a sharp and funny writer with a brilliant eye for moral fudging and verbal hypocrisy, and she has a splendid foil in Miss Mole' Sally Beauman WINNER OF THE JAMES TAIT BLACK MEMORIAL PRIZE 'Who would suspect her sense of fun and irony, of a passionate love for beauty and the power to drag it from its hidden places? Who would imagine that Miss Mole had pictured herself, at different times, as an explorer in strange lands, as a lady wrapped in luxury and delicate garments?' Miss Hannah Mole has for twenty years earned her living precariously as a governess or companion to a succession of difficult old women. Now, aged forty, a thin and shabby figure, she returns to Radstowe, the lovely city of her youth. Here she is, if not exactly welcomed, at least employed as housekeeper by the pompous Reverend Robert Corder, whose daughters are sorely in need of guidance. But even the dreariest situation can be transformed into an adventure by the indomitable Miss Mole. Blessed with imagination, wit and intelligence, she wins the affection of Ethel and her nervous sister Ruth. But her past holds a secret that, if brought to life, would jeopardise everything.

Synopsis Calypso and Other Music of Trinidad, 1912-1962 by :
Calypso, with its diverse cultural heritage, was the most significant Caribbean musical form from World War I to Trinidad and Tobago Independence in 1962. Though wildly popular in mid-1950s America, Calypso--along with other music from "the island of the hummingbird"--has been largely neglected or forgotten. This first-ever discography of the first 50 years of Trinidadian music includes all the major artists, as well as many obscure performers. Chronological entries for 78 rpm recordings give bibliographical references, periodicals, websites and the recording locations. Rare field recordings are cataloged for the first time, including East Indian and Muslim community performances and Shango and Voodoo rites. Appendices give 10-inch LP (78 rpm), 12-inch LP (33 1/3 rpm), extended play (ep) and 7-inch single (45) listings. Non-commercial field recordings, radio broadcasts and initially unissued sessions also are listed. The influence of Trinidadian music on film, and the "Calypso craze" are discussed. Audio sources are provided. Indexes list individual artists and groups, recording titles and labels.
