This Symposium aims to present and discuss recent advances on the experimental, theoretical and applications aspects of superconductivity. It provides a forum for scientists working on superconductivity to interact and solve mutual problems. All invited papers are by leading experts in the field.

This Conference is designed to cover the entire field of current-carrying properties of superconductors, either metallic alloys or the new high-Tc metallic oxides. Related topics will be treated as well as the large scale applications. Topics covered include magnetization and flux behaviour, current transport and critical currents, Josephson junctions and proximity effect, microwave absorption and rf surface resistance, thermal conductivity and specific heat, Hall effect and thermoelectric power, thermal fluctuations and paraconductivity, applications of high-Tc materials.

Advances through carefully conducted quantitative work on well designed, high quality materials characterize the present state of high-temperature superconductivity research. The contributions to this volume present a theoretical and experimental overview of electronic structure and physical properties, including anisotropic features, of high-temperative materials, with a focus on cuprates. In order to enhance the understanding of the mechanisms of superconductivity at high temperatures, this volume is divided into theoretical and experimental parts. The contributions to the two parts correspond to each other, giving readers involved in either area of research activity a reference to findingsof the other. On the other hand, this book gives young physicists high-level information on the present state of research, enhanced by tutorial contributions of leading physicists in the field.

This proceedings feature lectures and contributions identifying and exploring major new trends in contemporary materials science, in particular electronic and optoelectronic materials. Various aspects of the preparative technology, characterisation techniques, physical and physicochemical properties and device applications of new electronic and optoelectronic materials (amorphous, polycrystalline, crystalline semiconductors, magnetic media, high Tc superconductors, polymeric thin films, ferroelectrics, etc.) are treated via in depth reviews.
