Synopsis Have You an Arm Like God? by : Jeffrey K. Wisner
Job is a person lifted out of ancient history in dramatic fashion, addressing the most basic questions of life: Is God good and just? What does it mean to possess a secure relationship with God? How can security be obtained? The suffering of Job provides the impetus for a theological debate. Jobs friends believe his sins caused his troubles. Job refuses to submit to their hypocritical diatribes. He prefers an audience with God. He presumes to indict Gods testimony of justice in the world. After his friends exhaust their efforts, a young man confronts Jobs magisterial presentation. He challenges Jobs declarations concerning Gods person and work. He prepares him to meet with true majesty. The Lord continues to challenge from a whirlwind. His first speech reinforces His power of justice, His ability to sustain life, and His design through creation, revealing the character of a God who oversees life with good intentions. The second speech addresses Gods ability to judge and destroy the personality of evil. The center of this speech reveals a Messianic expression of hope. The way in which God introduces this testimony reinforces the understanding this Coming One is God Himself. The knowledge gained by Job propels him into a spirit of praise and worship, preparing him to minister as a priest for his erring friends.

Synopsis I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die by : Sarah J. Robinson
A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Synopsis Divine Providence and Human Agency by : Alexander S. Jensen
Divine Providence and Human Agency develops an understanding of God and God's relation to creation that perceives God as sovereign over creation while, at the same time, allowing for a meaningful notion of human freedom. This book provides a bridge between contemporary approaches that emphasise human freedom, such as process theology and those influenced by it, and traditional theologies that stress divine omnipotence. This book argues that it is essential for Christian theology to maintain that God is ultimately in charge of history: otherwise there would be no solid grounds for Christian hope. Yet, the modern human self-understanding as free agent within certain limitations must be taken seriously. Jensen approaches this apparent contradiction from within a consistently trinitarian framework. Jensen argues that a Christian understanding of God must be based on the experience of the saving presence of Christ in the Church, leading to an apophatic and consistently trinitarian theology. This serves as the framework for the discussion of divine omnipotence and human freedom. On the basis of the theological foundation established in this book, it is possible to frame the problem in a way that makes it possible to live within this tension. Building on this foundation, Jensen develops an understanding of history as the unfolding of the divine purpose and as an expression of God's very being, which is self-giving love and desire for communion. This book offers an important contribution to the debate of the doctrine of God in the context of an evolutionary universe.

Synopsis The Messiah by : Gregory W. Johnson
For the first time in history will these facts be known: King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba had a son named Menelik, Michael the Archangel brought back to Ethiopia the real ark that Moses had built. Abel and Cain had twin sisters. Abel's twin was named Kalimath, and Cain's twin was named Lebhudha. Nebuchadnezzar was really a Jew. His father was named Karmin, from the tribe of Judah. The blessed Holy Virgin Mother was named Hanna, and her father was named Joachim. Angels that asked God to come to earth and become men said that they would not sin. God gave the hearts of men to angels, and they sinned, having sex orgies with people They had children with the daughters of Cain, and they became giants in the earth, and God chose Noah to build an ark before he would destroy the earth with a flood. This is taken from Kebra Nagast, the Ethiopian book of kings, which is older than the Bible. This book alone is more exciting than any movie ever made about the Messiah. This book will be a movie someday. I am working on a movie deal for this book. This is a rare jewel. The Messiah: A Man of Color will reveal never-known events that are factual to this day: where the ark really is located in Axum, Ethiopia; the relationship between Solomon and the Queen of Sheba--she had a son with King Solomon. Things that were never mentioned in the Bible, such as Menelik. This book reveals new things but still used the Bible as a fact in history, but this gives more factual events never printed in the Bible. And, behold, a hand touched me. --Daniel 10:10

Synopsis The Martyred by : Richard E. Kim
"Written in a mood of total austerity; and yet the passion of the book is perpetually beating up against its seemingly barren surface. . . . I am deeply moved." -Philip Roth During the early weeks of the Korean War, Captain Lee, a young South Korean officer, is ordered to investigate the kidnapping and mass murder of North Korean ministers by Communist forces. For propaganda purposes, the priests are declared martyrs, but as he delves into the crime, Lee finds himself asking: What if they were not martyrs? What if they renounced their faith in the face of death, failing both God and country? Should the people be fed this lie? Part thriller, part mystery, part existential treatise, The Martyred is a stunning meditation on truth, religion, and faith in times of crisis.
