Synopsis Usagi Yojimbo Volume 12: Grasscutter by : Stan Sakai
Forged in heaven, it is called Kusanagi, the Grasscutter—the lost sword of the Gods. This legendary blade could potentially tip the scales of power for the shadowy Conspiracy of Eight in their quest to overthrow the Shogunate and reinstate the Emperor. With the help of a witch and the souls of dead warriors, they plan to recover the lost sword and bring the Shogun down. But when the fates place the Grasscutter in the hands of masterless samurai Usagi Yojimbo, the ronin rabbit becomes the focus of a deadly struggle for possession of the dread blade. And this crisis pales beside the dark possibilities should the sword come to the demonic warrior, Jei! Grasscutter collects Dark Horse Usagi Yojimbo issues 13-22, Stan Sakai's longest and most ambitious Usagi tale to date: a sweeping epic showcasing one of comics' most individual artistic voices at the peak of his creative skills.

Synopsis Rearing grasscutters by : Ngo-Samnick, E.L.
Grasscutters – large rodents commonly found in the wild in areas of grassland, clearings, wet or marshy areas in Africa – breed prolifically, grow quickly and are easy to rear. Sometimes more commonly known as ‘hedgehogs’ or ‘agouti’, their meat is high in protein and value, making their rearing an ideal alternative to poaching. This practical, user-friendly guide provides extension material for unconventional animal breeding. With liberal use of illustrations, tables and sample records, it describes how to rear grasscutters for food and for profit. Chapters cover breeding conditions, housing, reproduction, handling and feeding. Production planning and disease management are also detailed, including how to prevent disease and an overview of some possible illnesses and proposed treatments. With its illustration of costs for financial planning and a list of useful contacts, this manual provides an ideal source of information and guidance for farmers, rural communities and extension workers across the region.

Synopsis New Growth and Poverty Alleviation Strategies for Africa by : Karl Wohlmuth
This Volume XIV analyses the New Growth and Poverty Alleviation Strategies for Africa. Institutional issues and perspectives in designing new growth and poverty alleviation strategies are considered in various case studies (Cote d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Botswana and Tanzania). Other studies deal with institutional problems of resource-rich countries after conflict (Sudan), and with the institutions to enhance environmental protection parallel with economic growth and poverty reduction (Niger). Further studies deal with institutions to bridge the gap between formal and informal entrepreneurial sectors in Kenya and Tanzania. Local issues and perspectives for designing new growth and poverty alleviation strategies are considered in case studies on rural-urban development gaps in Tanzania, and on microfinance as an instrument for new growth and poverty alleviation strategies (Tanzania and Eritrea). A study on small farmers in Ghana provides information on the role they can play in value chains. Two studies on Nigeria highlight the local and the sub-regional health and poverty alleviation programmes and the relation to growth. Book Reviews and Book Notes on the theme are part of the volume. This Volume builds the foundation for a comprehensive strategy of policy reforms in Africa so as to integrate new growth and poverty alleviation strategies. Complementary to Volume XIV is Volume XIII on New Growth and Poverty Alleviation Strategies for Africa - International and Regional Perspectives. Both Volumes are of importance for all those who work in African countries as officials, executives, managers, researchers, and policy-makers, but also for all those who actively support Africa's development concerns at the international, regional, country, local and project levels. They will experience this Volume XIV and also the complementary Volume XIII as indispensable sources of insight, reference and inspiration.
