Synopsis Gleanings from Robert Govett by : Sentinel Kulp

The great preacher Spurgeon said of Robert Govett: He "wrote a hundred years ahead of his time, and the day will come when his works wilt be treasured as sifted gold." Robert Govett excelled in and developed quite an understanding of the meaning behind the types and shadows of Scripture, their spiritual application, and their ultimate fulfillment. Now many of his wonderful insights have been assembled into one book.

Synopsis A Victorian Dissenter by : David E. Seip

This book introduces the reader to Robert Govett (1813-1901), dissenting clergyman and author, who wrote as a scholar of biblical prophecy, primarily on the subject of the "exclusion" of believers in the Millennial Kingdom, an idea of which he conceived. The purpose of the book is threefold: (1) to describe Govett, his life, and his printed work; (2) to analyze Govett's eschatological beliefs, especially those he originated; and (3) to investigate why a respected theologian in England, who had published over 180 books and tracts, disappeared from dissenting print culture early in the twentieth century. Govett's doctrine of exclusion was heavily intertwined with most of his writings. It was a topic that he developed throughout his career. Yet, as the center of dispensationalism shifted to America, Govett's views of the Rapture began to be seen as extreme. The book explains why Govett was eclipsed as the center of the evangelical movement shifted and its theology ossified. Since his death, Govett has been occasionally remembered in scholarship, but with increasing inaccuracies and skepticism. This book seeks to remove the mystery.

Synopsis The Harvest of the Saints by : Jim Wainscott

The Harvest of the Saints was written to reintroduce and examine the “harvest concept,” an end-time rapture theory that has remained hidden in the shadows for over a century. Unlike most rapture scenarios that rely upon a limited framework of supporting Scripture, the harvest concept is based on a compelling body of biblical evidence that also provides insight into other related end-time events. Specific topics include — the clearly defined Old Testament blueprint of a traditional harvest and its application to an end-time harvest of the saints, — why Jesus will come both as a thief in the night and visibly in the clouds as our conquering King, — the importance of overcoming and the prospect of escaping “the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Rev. 3:10), — why outer darkness and the lake of fire represent two separate areas of confinement established to serve two entirely different purposes, and — the ordered sequence of end-time events, their purposes, and their interrelationships. Please join me as we bring the “harvest concept” out of the shadows and into the light where we can “test all things; [and] hold fast what is good” (1 Thess. 5:21). Jim Wainscott
