Synopsis Fundamental Generation Systems by : Alain Cardon
There are many different ways of generating representations. This includes representations generated by living beings while comprehending reality in order to act; representations generated by the Universe during its extensive unfolding, creating physical elements and living beings; and the direct representation of elements through an animal’s sixth sense. To this list we must now add the creation of artificial consciousness, which generates representations that resemble the mental representations of humans. These representations allow robotic systems to communicate directly with each other. Fundamental Generation Systems develops a theory which presents, from the beginning, the function of this sixth sense called the “sense of informational comprehension”. This sense is understood as an ability to use the informational foundations of the Universe via a dedicated cerebral domain found in every animal.

Synopsis Advanced Power Generation Systems by : Ibrahim Dincer
Advanced Power Generation Systems examines the full range of advanced multiple output thermodynamic cycles that can enable more sustainable and efficient power production from traditional methods, as well as driving the significant gains available from renewable sources. These advanced cycles can harness the by-products of one power generation effort, such as electricity production, to simultaneously create additional energy outputs, such as heat or refrigeration. Gas turbine-based, and industrial waste heat recovery-based combined, cogeneration, and trigeneration cycles are considered in depth, along with Syngas combustion engines, hybrid SOFC/gas turbine engines, and other thermodynamically efficient and environmentally conscious generation technologies. The uses of solar power, biomass, hydrogen, and fuel cells in advanced power generation are considered, within both hybrid and dedicated systems. The detailed energy and exergy analysis of each type of system provided by globally recognized author Dr. Ibrahim Dincer will inform effective and efficient design choices, while emphasizing the pivotal role of new methodologies and models for performance assessment of existing systems. Synopsis Protective Relaying for Power Generation Systems by : Donald Reimert
Power outages have considerable social and economic impacts, and effective protection schemes are crucial to avoiding them. While most textbooks focus on the transmission and distribution aspects of protective relays, Protective Relaying for Power Generation Systems is the first to focus on protection of motors and generators from a power generation perspective. It also includes workbook constructions that allow students to perform protection-related calculations in Mathcad® and Excel®. This text provides both a general overview and in-depth discussion of each topic, making it easy to tailor the material to students' needs. It also covers topics not found in other texts on the subject, including detailed time decrement generator fault calculations and minimum excitation limit. The author clearly explains the potential for damage and damaging mechanisms related to each protection function and includes thorough derivations of complex system interactions. Such derivations underlie the various rule-of-thumb setting criteria, provide insight into why the rules-of-thumb work and when they are not appropriate, and are useful for post-incident analysis. The book's flexible approach combines theoretical discussions with example settings that offer quick how-to information. Protective Relaying for Power Generation Systems integrates fundamental knowledge with practical tools to ensure students have a thorough understanding of protection schemes and issues that arise during or after abnormal operation.

Synopsis Development of Brushless Self-excited and Self-regulated Synchronous Generating System for Wind and Hydro Generators by : Izzat, Likaa Fahmi Ahmed
In this work, a developed model of brushless synchronous generator of wound rotor type is designed, analyzed by FEM, practically applied and investigated. A comparison of results with conventional machines is also performed. The presented machine can be applied for multi-pole wind/ hydro generators or double-poles diesel-engine generators. It is self-excited by residual magnetism and a connected capacitor. It is also self-regulated by making use of fluctuations at load or limited speed changes. The generated voltage may last at extended speed range by arranging a generating system with variable capacitance. By eliminating the permanent magnets or advanced manufacturing technology of rotor poles; and without using extra rotating/ external DC exciters, an efficient excitation field and an output of flat self-compensated compound characteristic are obtained. More, the feature of damper windings is determined. Concerning the fact of environmental diminishing of elements in materials of permanent magnets and D.C. Battery, the presented novel machine is hence a good alternative and more economic from generators, exist in the market. Beside, it is safer and highly recommended for power stability when connected to the grid.

Synopsis Electrical Generation and Distribution Systems and Power Quality Disturbances by : Gregorio Romero
The utilization of renewable energy sources such as wind energy, or solar energy, among others, is currently of greater interest. Nevertheless, since their availability is arbitrary and unstable this can lead to frequency variation, to grid instability and to a total or partial loss of load power supply, being not appropriate sources to be directly connected to the main utility grid. Additionally, the presence of a static converter as output interface of the generating plants introduces voltage and current harmonics into the electrical system that negatively affect system power quality. By integrating distributed power generation systems closed to the loads in the electric grid, we can eliminate the need to transfer energy over long distances through the electric grid. In this book the reader will be introduced to different power generation and distribution systems with an analysis of some types of existing disturbances and a study of different industrial applications such as battery charges.
